Exclamation Firing ranges require "gun clamps" for shooters.

Well, yeah, I bet at least he gets a good group with that rig.
The thrill of shooting in a safe, secure environment | The Australian Mining Review

BLOW out the cobwebs at WA’s only shooting complex. Established more than 15 years ago, Lone Ranges Shooting Complex in the Perth suburb of Belmont is one of the safest recreational shooting facilities in Australia, offering customers the thrill of shooting handguns, rifles and shotguns in the security of an indoor complex that operates seven days a week.
What do you think? SHOULD all gun ranges be required to clamp the weapons in this method so things like this can't happen?
They say technology slows down for no one. I know it outruns my wallet. I figure its because my wallet isn't light enough yet.

I suppose if you are dealing with someone who has never picked up a pistol before, it's a good way to protect them from the shock of the recoil and loud noise, but that's about it.

It's like placing a condom on a gun barrel.

No a requirement to do this would be stupid. It is exceptionally stupid if your goal is to keep people from comitting murder.

I think it is a nice addition to the gun range as a featured service or option. Some people might enjoy a gun clamp to hold a gun so they can make noise with no fear of recoil. Have a ball, put them in if you like you will hit some niche segment of society.

Australia has strong control laws in place. Pistols are considered "Category H"
To be eligible for a Category H firearm, a target shooter must serve a probationary period of six months using club handguns, and a minimum number of matches yearly to retain each category of handgun.
Target shooters are limited to handguns of .38 or 9mm calibre or less and magazines may hold a maximum of 10 rounds. Participants in certain "approved" pistol competitions may acquire handguns up to .45", currently Single Action Shooting and Metallic Silhouette. IPSC shooting is approved for 9mm/.38/.357 handguns that meet the IPSC rules, but larger calibers are not approved for IPSC handgun shooting contests. Category H barrels must be at least 100mm (3.94") long for revolvers, and 120mm (4.72") for semi-automatic pistols unless the pistols are clearly ISSF target pistols: magazines are restricted to 10 rounds. Handguns held as part of a collection were exempted from these limits.
Sounds to me like this could be a way for people to shoot pistols who haven't gone through the permitting process.
    Good job, friend-of-friends!
