The only unpopular part of Obamacare

(alias the [Patient Protection and] Affordable Care Act), according to a November Kaiser Foundation tracking poll:

Gonna be hard to repeal that without pissing off a lot of people.

I don't see the where they asked what people think of 20% annual increases on premiums for no apparent reason. Or what they think of still not being able to purchase insurance from an out-of-state insurer.

I guess you never had to buy health insurance. Large premium hikes are by no means uncommon.

(Buying from an out-of-state insurer usually means getting a policy that doesn't cover your actual needs.)

You think that's because of Obamacare?

I just expected health care to be affordable under the Affordable Care Act. It was a half-assed attempt at a bridge to single-payer that didn't incorporate price controls or any cost oversight. It was basically a corporatist move to allow insurers become monopolies, with the government assuring the growth of their customer base. Either option one way or the other would have been preferable (completely deregulated, national insurance marketplace; or a single-payer, universal system).

Healthcare by nature is not very affordable.

I am kind of hoping Trumpcare is the removal of the individual mandate and then the attempt at the "completely deregulated, national insurance marketplace" so that everyone can see why that won't work either. And then everyone can pretend that they wanted universal single-payer all along, as I notice many are already. (If we hit the 'rewind' button back to 2009/2010 we will see very little support for it.)

On the list of positive attributes of Obamacare, it created the thought in people's heads that, hey, maybe decent healthcare should be something that everyone has access to, regardless of socioeconomic status.

Same goes for Medicare and Social Security.

If'n these "Entitlements " ARE abolished, I'm gonna take whatever funds I have and invest in Funeral homes and Private Prisons.

As well as whatever supplies are needed to supply and maintain the National Guard.
