Studies Say Tax Cuts Now Will Bring Bigger Bill Later

Of course the best solution would be to cut spending on this out of control government budget. But cutting anything is against everything the liberals live and breath for and it cuts deeply into their voter base.

That's right, it's all the liberals fault. Except, that liberals haven't been in control for a long time. The Republicans controlled the Congress from 1994-2006 and the White House from 2001 - present, yet, it's the liberals that are responsible for high spending.

We'll just forget that the Republicans had more special earmarks than at any time in history. We'll forget that the Republicans increased defense spending by 50%. We'll also forget that it's the president that writes the budget and presents it to Congress.

This is what the CATO Institute had to say:
Quote:
Although defense spending has increased in response to the war on terrorism, President Bush has made little attempt to restrain nondefense spending to offset the higher Pentagon budget. Nondefense discretionary outlays will increase about 36 percent during President Bush's first term in office. Congress has failed to contain the administration's overspending and has added new spending of its own. Republicans have clearly forfeited any claim of being the fiscally responsible party in Washington.

Ok. Let's see the liberals lead the way in cutting government spending. I double dog dare them.

I haven't seen the democrats rushing to fill that gap lately.

And what were done with these surpluses?

They reduced the national debt until Bush squandered the surpluses.

If they did, it would be through cutting the DoD budget, which you would then raise hell over. Your hypocrisy really is unbounded. You blame "the liberals" for spending, while ignoring everything that has happened in the last seven years, not to mention what Ronald Reagan did. Shameless! Tsk, tsk.

Of course they would cut the DoD budget. That goes without saying. They can't afford to cut spending any where else without fear of losing their base constituency.

Yeah, cut defense. Who needs to defend a nation anyway...or at this point, the world? I'm sure Israel would be happy with that, not to mention all the other little kids on the block who rely on America's military might to keep things in line.

See, I don't think it's the money...I think it's the whole bureaucratic process. There is so much wasted motion it's not even funny.

I'll tell you a story my dad told me: he works for an outfit that maintains a naval supply base. He fixes stuff that needs fixing. Say a light bulb needs replacing. He has to call Virginia to let them know he's replacing this light bulb. Virginia. Light bulb. What the fuck?

It's that kind of wasteful crap that's rampant. People have jobs who shouldn't just because ridiculous, bureaucratic measures are in place to keep these people employed. $1 billion would go a lot farther if the bureaucracy wasn't as high as Everest. Solve the problem where it begins, not the endpoint (expenditure).
