(FAD) Ready to jump a page

    Hey guys,

after a few days of crunching it seems I'm ready to jump onto page 1 of our beloved stats page.

Don't know exactly to what place I'll jump on the 1st page, but I'm sure it'll be a good one, and all for the good of our team ofcourse.

If possible, I'll be adding more cows to my herd, so watch out guys.

Is there a post about what everyone has got running btw??

Don't adjust your monitor yet, but think about booking a time with your optician instead. You were already on Page 1 yesterday at Nr 95 !!! LOL

And if you look very carefully, you'll see that you are still there today (!), but now at Nr 94, so you're moving in the right direction at any rate.

    hmm,

I guess I'll be looking at a new stats page from now on, as I've been looking at the below stats page:

    http://stats.find-a-drug.com/stats1....1&Order=GFlops

btw, how long before a job gets reset and put new on the download list?? Or doesn't that happen like it did with rc5??
Cause I wanna save up a few jobs and do a large dump at lets say sunday or coming monday or something.

So if the jobs are still viable after say 2 weeks, then there should be no problem and I can even wait a little bit longer.

Don't really understand your question...however, maybe this helps:

Once all the jobs in a query have been downloaded (the 1rv1-q2 series of cancer jobs is a typical "query") then the query is "closed" and you only score points if you return the processed job within 30 days of the closing date. Thirty days is might seem long, but remember not everybody has fast machines and some jobs can take 15 or more days on slow processors.

However most of us try to return the jobs as soon as they are completed (say within 12 hours) and not sit on them to get a large dump.

This is to keep the so-called redundancy as low as possible. Broadly speaking - and these figures are just to demonstrate what I'm trying to say - the THINK software will download any given job "Job X" to ten (say) people: A, B, C...J. Once results have been received from for example four people, A, B, C, and D, then the next time E, F, G.....J connect up to the FaD servers, Job X will be automatically purged (i.e. removed) from their queues, and replaced by another job.

So if you sit on a finished job, waiting to get a nice big dump, while you're sitting on it, THINK will carry on downloading it to other people, which is not the most efficient way of using unused cycles...

HTH ! If anything's unclear, post again !

Forgot to say: if you click on yourself on the "new stats page" i.e. the link I gave you above, you'll get full details of every job you have uploaded in the past 24 hours...great fun ! All courtesy of that well-known genius Wizzard~of~Ozz.

    TT,

that actually does answer my question, if I understand it correctly.

As it states there, when I download a job, I have to upload it within 30 days for it to be counted on my name, right??

Well, 30 days of crunching should give me quite a result, I'll just keep it at 2.5 weeks and then I'll do a big dump.

In the meanwhile my duallie P3 1Ghz will keep dumping as soon as it finishes.

I'll be saving the jobs from my sempron 3100, P4 3.0 and XP3000 for 2.5 weeks and then do a nice dump before christmas.

    so that's the purge option!
i thought it was to clear old completed jobs from the queue server, but it never did this.
    now i know why.
is there any reason that uploaded jobs do not seem to get cleared from the queue server? or does this happen when the job is finally closed?

Damnit, I just read yer post a bit more accurately TT, and I think I'll just keep dumping every time that about 10 jobs are finished per puter, or every 4 days, whatever comes 1st.

    thanks for the info

You don't have to dump yourself - you can set the software to do it for you if you like. Go to Set-Up > General > Internet Connection Plan and fiddle around there.

I'm on ADSL so I have my Internet Connection Plan set to "When On-Line". Works like a dream...as soon as a job is finished, Whoosh! and off it goes, with new jobs also being downloaded automatically. Gives me more time for beer-drinking.

If you have your Internet Connection Plan set to "every 2 days" or whatever, a sufficient number of jobs for that period is downloaded. Smart !

I understand that I can set the dumptime on my online puter, but thing is, most of my puters are not online, so they are dependant on when I get the jobs off the puters.

I'll do it like this, coming friday I'll dump whatever I have at that moment, and then dump once a week with my offline cows.

My net access puter will be dumping every job as soon as it's finished.

Milestones: Ultima, 75 Thousand Points, 1 Million Molecules
Seems I did 2 milestones at once.

Maybe I'll even get a 3rd, if it'll show the 100k points next to the 75k, but that's prolly not gonna happen.

this morning before I left home, I saw my sempron was at 61% with 200 hits in one job already, so I figured I could prolly dump it tonight as well.

I looked just now, it has 251 hits at 74%. LOL That's gonna be a big dump.
