Major Upgrade
Alright guys my dad just let me go on a computer shopping spree his past weekend for christmas.
Here are my specs:
2x 2.8GHz Xeons (64-bit)
4x 512 mb DDR2
2x Seagate 37GB 15,000 RPM HDs
500 Watt server PSU
Supermicro SLI mobo
1x Geforce 6600GT (hopefully two here soon)
The parts should all come in this week so be prepared for a major FAD point boost from me...

Looks like a server... What would be the point of this powerful of a machine? Are you gonna be doing rendering or CAD or something?
People are like coins, there's always two sides.

He probably wanted to save some money somewhere. Oh, maybe he saved money by using the cardboard box the parts came in.

Anyway, my dad just wanted to reward me for good grades and what not. I also needed an upgrade and he decided upon upgrading the server we had. Some of the parts on that list including the case were from the original server.

January 3rd, 2005, 07:40 PM #9This might sound stupid, but I didn't want to spend too much on the video because that all changes so fast it is pointless to get two Ultras.

Oh, so you're reusing the case. Cardboard would make a nice case, though.

I have seen that done before and it would give a nice white trash MOD to the case style.

The reason I posted this was because I wanted to see if this would boost the FAD team's score a lot if I kept my machine running?

Of course it will.

Look out 7th place, here we come!

This should go online on friday...
I wanted an SLi system and the opteron mobo lineup does not have SLi yet. So I went with a dual 64-bit xeon.
