Does Active SETI Put Earth in Danger?

Bottles wash ashore in wastern coast of Europe. I young man named Juan and another named Hernando pick up a bottle that the jetstream and ocean currents washed ashore.

Inside is what appears to ne some strange pictographs, Wiser men, savants, are called in to decipher this strange --is it writing or what?

One exceptionally gifted savant translates the parchment to say:

Hi, we are Mayans and Incas. We live in a land of great beuty and gold. We pray to our pagan gods to make the corn grew. Our King is divine and wears much gold and green sparkling stones. We would like an animal that could carry us and our treasure , as we have none. But we do have sharp arrows and stong bows. If you want to find us, travel in the direction the Sungod goes to sleep at nite. We await a god to visit us.

It nice that in all the X,000,000,000 's of years gone by, we have aquired the technology of television the last fifty of these. Hmmmm..when might some other sentient species have acquired it?

Didn't you find it a bit odd that 'the Alien" was PURPLE and not GREEN ? ?

Or that he headed for your Hydrant before he got back in his VW BUGGE and drove off ?

We will be long gone before any earth transmission reach other stars unless they have some way to travel the speed of light

I always wondered about that.

There was a X-Files episode where the Large Array in Arribo (?) P.R. , after having been abandoned for lack of funding, started to receive messages of sentient life.

I don't remeber if it was Aliens or the Gov't that erased the tapes for poor Agent Fox Muldur. He should have had Agent Scully with him --for .err..medical anaylysis of the evidence--which is out there.

The Gov't denies all knowledge, and sometimes you believe them about that !

I'm fully aware of what the DC projects studies. But should you read the article you'll see the point of the debate is about them doing more than just listening...

I don't see where it mentions that any active transmission is incorporated into the current DC project. I must admit, I did not read the entire article before. (What would you expect from a one sentence response above? ) Just the paragraph shown. To my amazement it mentioned passive and active transmissions.


Funny how the ancients (We think)were more than likely signaling in an active communication attempt to the "gods", aliens? Were they nuts?

The pyramids were thought to be aligned to Orion's belt in the sky. In essence, man kind has been using a form of active communication for thousands of years. This sounds like the consequences of StarGate.
