I have downloaded F@H again and it's running on only 1 core of 4
I have looked everywhere on how to get it to run on all 4 cylinders
but can't find anything, I downloaded the new beta that is suppose to run on quad cores but I can't get it to work,
so if one of you fine crunchers would be so kind as to tell me what the scoop is
I will add more crunching cores to the timo project,

In order to work in Windows XP, you must first install Microsoft .Net framework v2.0.
You must also Run it as adminsitrator, with the same password as the Admiistrator account.
If you only use the one account with no password, you must create one with a password.
FAH FAQ page: http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandeg...g/FAQ-SMP.html
You will get more raw performance from a Linux install, either dedicated folding machine, or dual boot on a spare hard drive.
Here's my remedial tutorial for Linux and SMP folding: http://dallasdon.com/html/kubuntu.html |

DallasDon has it correct. You've got to jump through a lot of hoops to get it to run, but once its up, it will run on all four cores.

A workaround is to create four folders on your hard drive:
Fah1
Fah2
Fah3
Fah4
Or whatever naming scheme you like.
Remove all instances of Fah, and download the 'No nonsense" client for Windows, one copy in each folder.
Create a shorcut in each folder, then add the -local - config flag in the shortcut properties.
Config each client seperately to run as a service, be sure to include the team number, etc.
edit the processor ID number to 1, 2, 3, 4 on each instance.
This won't produce as much production as the SMP beta, as you get bonus points for running the Beta client, but it's close enough for government work. |

I was running a dual for awhile, but now I think it's gone back to one.
How do you tell how many cores are crunching?
