Mr. SCOTT - calm down! If your increased blood pressure induces a hernia, who wins? You or the router? Do you really want to be humiliated by a router?

The problem is probably that I'm following the directions.
The router appears to see the DSL modem
The computer sees the router, but can't seem to find the modem through the router.

I can open the browser and get to the router (192.168.0.1) log in and go through the wizard for setup and all that fun stuff.

Mr. Scott has decided to cede round one to the Borg (router), and go and have a Wee nip. Percussive maintenance He has learned s rarely the proper method to follow. (although it can be quite satisfying.)
Actually It would appear that Mr. Scott is messing about with the engines again. He seems to think he can pull a bit more out of the starboard nacelle.

Mr Scott you would not be our engineer if you don't keep f**cking with the f**king engines! Ok feel better now, at least I did not use my old main tool ( 10lbs sledge hammer). If it does not want to fit, make it fit.

Give the router another go in the evening. Skip the wizard and just go to each tab. We know you can read, I hope a little comprehension sometimes is necessary. The rest of the gang should pile in in a few hours. I can't help you with the comprehension part but I do know how to read in 6th grade level.

Wee nip done, now is time for a wee, and then a nap. thought about just taking a wee nap, but that just leads to waking up cold and wet.
2389 is all the engine has got in it, fires up at 2410, but then she stalls. No sense trying to push her to hard as we are only going to the dump anywho.

Is the router giving you troubles Nunya? Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Also, I guess I don't have to post stats today, since dude did it?

well I'm at my sisters house, and I set up F@H so I now have a X2 6000 running F@H

how ever she is running vista so it's only running at 50%

I didn't set it up with the SMP because she will not know how to get it started all the time, so 50% will have to be enough,

Nice Dave. I haven't had the gonads to set it up on other peoples systems yet...

Give me some time though, it seems PC repairs/builds are starting to pick up for me.

Just be sure to ask before you install it on other people's systems. I had some i ran it on that i could tell when they had FUBARED there computer because they quit putting out points. Of Course with the size of some of the WU out there it would not be real effective unless you were running it on a fairly fast computer.

I think I made the Router mad, it won't even speak to me right now. 192.168.0.1 gives me nothing. lol I'll just reset it, and forget it for a bit. Time to do further research, It may be a case of turning off DHCP, I'll find out when it decides to talk to me again.
The trick here will be to actually learn something. To many times I go round and round figuring something out only to forget what the hell I did that worked the next time around.
Basically at this point I'm going to back up to square one and try to clear out all my network settings to a default state, and start from scratch.
First things first though, I'm gonna have to kiss/kick its ass and get it to talk to me again.

I just stick to family computers, I built this box so I know what it does, I can also telnet to it,

she always wants me to do something on here so I can just do it from home,

instead of driving over here all the time,

her sons keep getting on here and doing stuff to it, like freaking out about it saying evaluation copy on the bottem,

and me having to tell her i cheated her by putting a fake copy of vista on here,

so again I have to explane to her that it is the SP1 that is evaluation not vista, (she bought vista,)

but now i'm downloading the real SP1 so the evaluation is gone, now they can relax and sit down before they hurt themselves,

@ Nunya: The router can be fussy some times. It did work for 2-3years, great. But we needed wifi, and upgraded, and it's been sitting in the pyle o parts since.

@Dave: Why haven't you set that up before? I usually install VNC on systems I build. I found it's much easier just to fix from home anyways. But I'm lazy, so that's probably the most of it. Plus, with VNC, it gives the clients piece of mind knowing they have to start up the server before I have access to the system. So they know I'm not in there system whenever I want to be.

Mr Scott has just sent Me a message.

Mr Scott: I'M an Engineer DAMN IT! WHAT THE HELL DO I KNOW ABOUT ROUTERS?
I have for the moment turned the communication problem over to the interrogation unit. Col. Biermann (beer man, get it?) promises me that " ve haf ways of making them talk"
not exactly sure I want to know how, but the router is at least talking to Me again. (Stuck a paper clip where the sun don't shine, although I'm sure I already did that.)

now that it is talking again I think I shall have to turn this over to somebody just a bit nicer. Col. Biermann scares Me, and I feel a lighter hand may have better results.

Mr Scott assures me that once the communication problem is solved he can Quickly get all engines online instead of having to cycle through them as needed.

(a happy day that will be as I'm really getting tired of doing the hokey poky) you put the Net cable in, you pull the net cable out, you put the net cable in the you send the results about....................)

(Please note I'm not a Star Trek Geek, this just keep me from taking a BFH to the Router, and also helps maintain My sense of humor such as it is.)

I guess I'll post something to stop Nunya from killing the thread!

Engracio, I looked all over for that guide that talked about that other work around, but I can't seem to find it.
I'll keep looking for it, but I make no promises..
