    Welcome!!!

    Awards:

Red Rubber Hotpants Go to Engracio!
Rubber Baby Bumpers Go to Cunokyle!

Phew! I am glad to get rid of those bumpers, even if its by not crunching at all at the moment! Now I am still looking at a sneakernet for my Quaddie. Problem is that the main computer is a AMD 64 3200+. No SMP WU's comin down the pipes there!(Will be crunching here tonight tho on that one). Hmmm. I will see what I can do about a Wi-Fi card. Any suggestions on how to get this baby pumping?

dude a possible work around for the quadie is to create three or four separate folders for F@H, fah2,fah3,fah4 and configure them with different machine id not the same as the amd64 3200 which is more than likely machine id 1. drop them to the quaddie and manually run each folder. Not really sure if F@H client max id as 4 or 8. Try that route see how sneaker net works.

Hmm. . . . will try that engracio. I was thinking along those lines. The 4 wus may be a little underpowered for the quaddie, but that just means that it will do more wus over a period of time. Any suggestions on a good wifi card(one with a good range, the router I have access to is a house over)

    My suggestions:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833124069
Kind more pricey then the rest, but it supports 802.11N networks, which is what everything is going to soon.
It also supports the older B&G networks too. So it'll work now, and it will work a couple of years from now too.

If your wanting to go as cheap as possible, maybe something like these:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833130046
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833368001
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16839121008
Now the problem with those are your not gonna get a good signal, which will make your net crawl..
I'd spend the extra money, and get one that you know is gonna work, now and a couple of years down the line...
    Just my two cents..

Man its hard to type like that. I will probably order one of those wifi adapters. I may just get a cheap one(speed is not my objective) once my paycheck gets in and then purchase a mondo antenna. Im in a basement trying to pick up a signal next door(only wired at this house), and my buddy will let me squat on his wireless. I feel that is the most economical solution.

On a lighter note, my lappy has a weak wireless pcmcia card in it. If i set it up on its side(screen propping it up for stability) I can get a stable connection to the raceway 2.5 miles line of sight connection! Sweet . . . . but thats upstairs tho.

YEAH! Yes you will be listed in the next update.

The P4 was a 1.5Ghz, Dropped in a 2.4Ghz and it came up as a 1.8Ghz. Oh well better than nothing. I may just put Linux on it.

    Hai Guyz!

Umm, could I do this while I'm away and doing other time consuming computer tasks, becasue on days while I'm AFComputer It would be cool to help, although my bandwith is about 700 Down on a good day and 100 up?

    Is that good enough?
I'm PL, I've come to suck all the intelligence out of this thread.

It takes very little bandwidth to run folding. It just needs to be able to download WU, and then send in the results.
I do run folding almost all the time. I shut it down when I'm playing games though. My computer yells at me if I do both at the same time..

But you should be able to fold Prince..
