Okay since I lost the manual for my monitor. I have this Phillip 19" lcd which when the xp os shut off the juice to the lcd the monitor sent out a message "no video input" like a screen saver. Since this monitor is in the bedroom it gets annoying sometimes. I changed the screesaver to sent out blank adter 10 min but the back light shows pretty bright.
Any ideas where i might check any settings. I tried it on different mobo/boxes so I don't think its in the bios.

You in XP or Vista E?
And, just so I'm clear, you want the monitor to go into standby after a set amount of time, right? |

Or, you can go into the control panel in xp, go to power settings, and adjust in there. You can set a specific time you want the LCD to stay on, before going into standby. |

Karma, I don't think it is quite what you're thinking...
I think he's referring to when he the PC has been switched off, so it would be a monitor issue IMHO.... Quote:

I'll try it with another box with a different video card. Does not hurt. |

It sounds like a power save setting in your monitor's menu which you need to change, not the PC.
That said, you could try the BIOS power save settings and change the switch settings in there. They should be labelled similar to S1 and S3.
