Hi dave!
I did some more testing on my OC. It's 100% stable at 3.46Ghz.
Temps are tolerable, but a little warmer then what I've been getting last day or so. |

although I put that white thermal compound on it, and it seemed kind of thick, I wonder if I should use the Grey stuff,
that Grey compound seems thinner and more apply-able than the white stuff,
so what HSF are you using? | Dave make sure you lap the new heat sink. Even with Heat sinks that appeared to be lapped. then take the time to polish it to a mirror finish. Dremels make that quick and easy.
When it comes to Thermal compound less is more. 95% of the people use way to much. If it might have been thick it was thick. The extra compound actually acts as an insulator and traps heat.
scroll down to "Applying Arctic Silver 5:" at this link and look at how little they say to use. (and I'm still using to much myself. lol) http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appi...core_expsd.pdf

KK,
Thanks for the heads up. I realized that when I saw the v droop myself. On any case I have brought it back down to 9x385=3465. When I had it at 9x389=3501 and 1.415 cpu volt the temp was hovering around 71c and it ventually kick off my bios alarm at 75c.
Dropped the cpu voltage 2 notches on this mobo to 1.375 and also dropped fsb to 385. Current temp now while running prime95 since I don't want to lose a wu on 76 step is 60-67c. Much better temp.
I'll mess with it and see what is the lowest stable cpu voltage I can run this box without rebooting or FAH wu error.

What happen to mrniceguy? Looks like he'll catch up with ps3 before I catch no1vern I think he put a cow or two within the last month and really cranked it up. No1vern on the other hand is not going to lay down and put another box online I think.
No matter as mr lips have said, Time is on my side yes it is. |
