Oh no Engracio... NEVER BUY A RAIDMAX.
They are horrible horrible PSU's. I wish you would have said something, I could have saved you some $.
If you read JP's sticky on PSU's, you'll notice that he has RAIDMAX listed in the "bad" category. Quote: Good: Akasa PaxPower.... Antec... Astec... AOpen..... Channel Well..... Coolermaster.... Corsair.... Enermax..... Enlight.... Fortron Source (Sparkle)... Gigabyte.... HEC...... Hi-Power.... Hiper... Jeantech...... NSpire..... OCZ Technology..... PC Power & Cooling.... PowerMan...... ^That's what's running my OC'd dually box, and 6 case fans, and a 7800gt. Works like a charm! |

Yea I know about raidmax, I've read JP's list. I just thought I needed to have eps12v to run the abit p35pro. Now I know that my good ole reliable thermaltake 420w psu is good enough.
Anyhoo, I won't reorder the psu and just get another one when a good sale comes around. I've have good experience with Thermaltake, Fortron, Antec , and Coolermaster. All psu on JP's badlist died on me. I mean All.
Thanks KK

So I'm building a PC for my neighbor. All the parts came in today.
Specs:
Gigabyte-P31-S3G Mobo
E2180
Super Talent DDR2-800
Silverstone PSU (that I linked to above) lol
WD 160Gb HDD
I threw her together on the desk real quick. The case and LCD will be here monday, so I figured I could get XP installed on it, and ready to go when the case arrives.
Booted right up, no problems.
Now I've read all kinds of good things about these CPU's, how you can take them to 3.0Ghz to 3.2Ghz on stock everything. (v-core, cooler, etc.)
So I hit the BIOS, and went to 333 FSB, and no problems, booted right up.
Temps weren't any higher then 42c°. So I went to 340 FSB. Again, booted right up, no v-core increase or nothing. I think I'm just gonna stop there, but what a nice OC! And it was soooo easy.
The thing is pretty damn fast too. |

A 650 Watt Corsairs pullin' the load . . . what do you think so far? Im definetly buying ABit again . . . my last Gigabyte was not so nice. Just want an opinion from an experienced, well rounded emeritus overclocker like you . . . . |

^ You have too much time on your hands.
@dude,
I can't speak for the Abit P35 boards, but the MSI P35 board I got running my quad is really nice. It doesn't have near all the bells and whistles my EVGA 680 board does, but it still has all the important OC options. I found my only limit so far on this board is the heat. I have to run the SB at the max v-core to keep it stable over 3.6Ghz. But after about 20 mins, my SB is hot to the touch.
But that's a little extreme compared to what the average user would be doing. |
