oh your sick, and we needed to know about the dump because?
well good luck with the dump, bring something to read, a nice hunting magazine is nice,
so I was reading about lapping sense KK didn't seem it fit to tell me what it was,
so now I'm thinking why can't Intel and AMD use a buffer to make their CPU's flat, and the HSF manufacture do the same thing,
so we don't have to do the work for them,
ha tell me that,

Why don't they? Because we would need even less thermal compound.

I'm pretty sure I told you dave. You just probably forgot in your old age...
HEY DAVE,
lapping is when you polish the bottom of your HSF to a mirror like finish. It transfer heat better that way. Start with 800 grit, then go to 1000, then 1200, then 1500, and if you can find 2000 grit, finish with that.
Also, make sure you do your CPU also. (Which voids the warranty BTW)
Happy dave? |

Happy dave? | I'm feeling much better now, thank you very much,
but you never answered me when I asked the first time,
dumping lapping buffing, this thread is going down hill fast,
now I'm sure when nunya jumps in having to beat all this talk about dumping lapping and buffing, where going to need a rating for this thread, |

you know nunya your probably right, they make the CPU's to good they will last to long, and they want them to die in a couple years so you have to buy a new one, |

Also, I should probably mention, you want to tape the sandpaper down to a flat desk, then move the HSF itself when you polishing it. That way it ensures you get a level flat lapp..
News from the homestead:
Tornados came through lastnight, and killed power to the town for about 2 hours. So my farm got shut down lastnight about 2am, and didn't get turned back on till about 30 mins ago...

well I finally got vista to be snappy like XP,
the response time is much better,
I don't know how many of you use vista with aero, and the glass thingy,
but it always seemed slow when you opened anything, it's suppose to be 3D so it looks like it's coming at you in 3D it just looks slow, and it don't look like it's suppose to,
so I shut off the floating windows thingy, and now it works like XP did,
but it still has aero and the glass look,
KK I'm going to wait until next week to do the lapping thing, |

Man, these little E2180's can do some crunching! My neighbor setup is still here waiting on the case, and I've had it folding the last couple of days. And this thing hauls ass!
It can't run the SMP client, so I got 2x consoles going, and it moves a percentage every min!
So far, I've had this going since Friday night/Saturday Morning, and it's done 13 WU's already. |
