well I'm having problems, I reinstalled vista but it kept getting BSOD's,
it finally stopped and stabilized, thing is it also kept shutting down services,
so I was looking if maybe there was a update for the P35 chipset, so I went to Intel website and they say the P35 chipset drivers are no longer available,
what the hell is up with that,
so I have the drivers saved on my backup drive, the set from Intel and the set from asus,
the Intel ver. is 8.3.1.1009
the set from asus is 8.3.0.1013,
so the newer set of drivers are no longer available,
I'm wondering why Intel dumped em,i'm folding for techimo!! what are you doing?

That is weird. I just installed them again not to long ago on her rig. Hmm...
BSOD's huh?
Is this OC'd, or at stock?
Have you made any other changes to your system lately?
If it's OC'd, I can already tell you what your problem is more then likely. The V-droop on these P35 boards can cause some issues. Check to see what your v-core is set at in BIOS, then check again with CPU-z in windows, no load. Then load out your CPU, and see what the voltage is according to CPU-z. I bet you'll see at least a .2v drop. On my board, it was almost .4.

I did have it oc'd but I set it back to stock, I thought the same thing, but even at stock speeds it did the same thing,I was thinking it's that damn SP1 for vista, it ran fine until I tried installing SP1,I reinstalled vista about 3 hours ago and used the asus chipset drivers it's running fine now,I also have it clocked back up to 3.0 I have not tried installing SP1 yet, I'm thinking i'll run it like this for now, and install SP1 tomorrow, see if it stays stable until then,
i'm folding for techimo!! what are you doing?

I myself don't have SP1 installed on Vista. I thought I'd see how it ran without it, and if I was having problems, then I'd install it. And now that I think of it, I never have.
*/shrugs/*
But I know why you couldn't get anything over 3.2 stable though. It is the v-drop. Engracio had the same problem on his P35 board too.
My v-core to run at 3.2 needs to be 1.47 in BIOS. Which really is 1.43 windows, no load, and then under load it drops to 1.42.
To keep my Quaddy stable at 3.6Ghz, I had to have my v-core set to 1.512, then under load it dropped to 1.48v.
Also, my NB voltage had to be at 1.5, and my SB was all the way up, (I don't remember what it was off the top of my head, I think like 1.8 or so)

I'm not going any more than 3.0 until I get some better cooling
this heatsink and fan suck,
and now it's getting warmer out so I can't open the case and set it by the window and let the cool breeze do what the HS won't do,
i'm folding for techimo!! what are you doing?

I know the feeling. Have you lapped you CPU and HSF yet. You'd be surprised how much that helps. If your HSF has a uneven bottom, then it makes all the difference in the world..

Don't make me do it E....
Dave, Lap your HSF. I bet it will drop your temps like 5°-10°. $10 in sandpaper is cheaper then $30-$40 on a new HSF.
