That's all I've found so far.. IDK what the hell happened, but half my electronic shit in the house is burnt out..
EDIT:
Microwave done for
about 20 light bulbs done for also.. | Lightning???? I heard you don't have to have a visible storm to get hit??? If not you might have to track the cause down or it could happen again.

Well I just talked to the neighbor, and he said the power went out for about 2 hours. I'm guessing either when it went out or when it came back on, there was a surge.
But the thing is, non of my breakers were/are tripped. And ALL of my electronic toys are on multiple surge protectors. (minus the microwave and light bulbs)
So I'm calling the power company now...
This is the second time now my PC has gone done because of "surges"..
I will also be calling the insurance company. My rough estimate it I lost about $4k worth of shit today..
Talk about a bad day...
EDIT:
I talked to the power company, and they said I should unplug all electronic devices if the power goes out, just in case of this. I told them I probably would have, but I was at work, and there is no way I could have done that. They then said sorry sir, I can transfer you to out complaint department. So they did, and in talking to the next lady giving my report, she let it slip that they have had numerous people call in and make reports, and most where in my area. Then she proceeded to tell me the power company will not cover it, and this report is only for "their own records".
I then hung up, and called my insurance company. Told them the story, (or what I think the story is) and they said they would cover it. And my agent is coming out right now to look at the house and broken goods.
I knew I payed a hefty fee for something.. lol
So it sounds like everything is gonna be covered, and I think I'll go around the neighborhood tonight and see how many others are dealing with broken goods. I imagine if it's a good amount of people, we probably have a case against the power company..

In my case nothing got broken (I think... ) but you got hit hard..
I believe that we might be getting some hurricanes also
Hopefully we wont get any but there's currently one brewing up in the Atlantic as we speak!

Guess who's back...back again!!
Ok, so I haven't gone over the top, but I picked up some new RAM, PSU, and HDD's from BB. The insurance guy way pretty cool. He didn't give me everything I asked for, but I'm not losing out on anything either.
Got a check to cover most everything. So I think I'm good.
Had to pay a $250 deductible though.
Anywho, got a lot of stuff to fix up here, so I think I'm signing off for the night. I'll update you guys tomorrow.
(Thanks for the comments BTW. You guys ) |

Alright, minor update. (I just can't stay away from this place)
Got new HDD's set up in RAID 0 now. One of my other HDD's that didn't s**t out I have for a backup/storage drive. Got Vista installed again, and crunching is back up and going.
Ended up getting a 800w BFG PSU. I don't think it's the best, but it's working now and has a decent warranty also, so I'm not horribly concerned.
We looked at new TV's, but didn't want to be at BB any longer. I hate that place, and so does the gf. I'll probably end up ordering one online somewhere this week.
Microwave is also replace now. That wasn't too bad really. Most light bulbs replaced now also.
But I have this suspicion that my Mobo is shot too. It's working now, and it's running my Quad @3.6Ghz, but I've been getting random reboots and BSOD's now. And it won't clock past 3.6Ghz anymore.
And somehow, the GPU is fine. I thought for sure it was gonna be a goner, but some how it lived!
Anywho, I'm really signing off for the night now. |

Well Karma you know the deal, check it out with memtest86. If it pass a few test, then try to run a memory intensive benchmark proggie.
Let's go bossman, waiting for you to pick yourself up from the bootstrap. |

Wow Karma, I let you out of my sight for a few days and the crap hits the fan. Sorry to hear about your electronics, that sucks. Good thing your insurance took care of it. Homeowners or rental insurance?
