Well I finally got it to power on, but it won't see my KB and Mouse at all. I've tried 3 sets now..
I'm speaking with a egg rep now, so let's see if I get this worked out...

I just had a thought. Should I be running 3 instances of F@H? Currently I got the GPU2 going and 1 application for the cpu. I have a dual core cpu. But I also read somewhere that I needed one core free to feed the GPU. Maybe it's because I'm real sick right now and can't think real straight. Somebody set me right plz, and then it's off to another 15 hrs.

Ok..posting from the new board now.
Something is screwy about it. Sometimes when it starts up, it won't do anything, just a black screen. Other times, it starts fine. The half the times it starts where I can see something, the KB and Mouse will not work.
But this is one of the rare times it started and everything worked.

Anywho, bat, depending on what OS you use, that depends on what client you can use.
In XP, GPU2 uses a full core. So with the other core, I'd run a single instance of the console, not SMP.
In vista, it only uses about 25% of one core, so you can still run SMP with it.

And Jas0n at newegg set me up real good 2.
Long story short, new board getting cross shipped to me, and a total of $250 in credit at egg.

KK I hope you plan of replacing that board. Based on passed experience it normally does not last that long.

Glad you got that box working. My box with no KB and mouse working, tried a few more parts swapping and basically decided its time to part. Luckily on the first try another mobo recognized the old OS and all I needed to do is install the chipset drivers. Typing on it now and crunching on a gpu2. Did not have to reimage the box.

It it just me or others have been getting more unstable_machine or early_end_unit error on the gpu2 clients. One box actually stopped for a while before I checked on it and had to restart the client. It EUE'd and stopped, waiting 24hrs before restarting.

My fix is to delete the fah_11, unitinfo, queue, myfolding, and the work folder. Have it download new files. If it happened a couple times already I would crank down the oc a bit.

I believe it's not really the machine but the wu/stanford issue. There is no real rhyme or reason why it would get the error. Looking at the log file, the box would complete dozens of wu then fail.

I have it on my Vista machine and finally just quit running it again on that machine.

The 2 XP machines seem to be doing okay at this time though.

Oh, I'm talking about the GPU client.

I'll load the CPU client on a couple machines tonight.

    Harder

    Howdy kids..
So I left GPU2 on last night, woke up this morning and it was going, but for some reason my GPU fan turned itself back down to ~40%, instead of the 99% I left it on.
So I turned it back up, and left it going when I left for work. Got back home, and the machine was shut off..

This board is hosed for sure. And the rep at newegg is really trying to make things right. SO I gotta give them credit. I doubt any other etailer would be talking to me like Jason from newegg has.

Well KK I am glad this Jason guy is treating you real well. I just hope if and when shit happens to me Jason would stroke me just as well. 5 stars for NewEgg and Jason. Better be, been shopping with them since I've been here.

Yeah same deal here. Since I've been into PC's, I've been using newegg. According to the PP account, I'm well over 15k in to newegg, so I think jason knows his time is well spent with me.

Just boxed up the GPU, that's getting shipped out.
I'm getting a new Mobo cross-shipped, so hopefully that gets here ASAP.

Now I gotta decide what I'm gonna replace the GPU with. A single bad a$$ card, or multiple not so bad a$$ cards... Hmmm..
