F@H virus alert?
I just got a virus alert warning
it says there is a Nutcracker family virus in my folding at home application data folder.
It is nothing to do with a mistake by avast is it? ?
I just chucked the file in the chest and I'm going to look at it....

no how to get the file out of the chest..
or should I just shut it down and start over with folding?

I'm already confused...
So it's in your folding folder, and your still running folding?
I would shut F@H down for sure, then try to remove it..
It should save your work. Shut down using CTRL+C.Q6600@4Ghz | i7 920@4.4Ghz |E6320@3.5Ghz

It was removed when I quarantined it.
Thing is, I have no idea where it could have come from, my email gets scanned
I'll shut down folding and see what happens when I start it up again..

If it does increase a file length that could be the cksum error reported right?
btw looks like a reformat is all that removes it...

I've had a similar message when I turn on my clients too quickly - I have one running as a service, started manually and one running as a tray client that is started manually, also.
I think maybe you just had a quirk or a false alarm, but some smart-assed college student could easily poison the F@H community, I'm sure.Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

Yes I'm not sure that was what the 2nd one was too, a double running- but I just rebooted and did not do a manual start either..
IDK, if it was real you guys would have had it or will have it.
Maybe we all need to virus scan..
It says it gets into the boot sector
I can't figure out how to make the free avast just scan something in particular
I'll reboot again and have it do a full boot scan if I can.
(I'm thinking more that it might have snuck in by email- two people that I really like email me that BS crap-- I like them too much to say STOP!!)
Nah, my boot record just got scanned and it's not there, I don't think it was a real problem..
But you are right Chuck about some snot-nosed brat trying to mess us up..
Sad to say...Last edited by surreal; January 17th, 2009 at 12:26 PM.

Avast also reports some video files as containing trojan horses. I have found that other people who download the same exact video files also have avast report the same trojan.
There is no trojan, it has something to do with the checksum associated with the video file that matches a certain trojan's checksum.
Hopefully your nutcracker is just a false-positive.
