Ladies & Gentlemen,
Apparently I made a big mistake, I have over 50 replies to prove it. I am not as superior as all of you, just a pancreatic cancer survivor ( so far ) with a PC, belong to a lot of forums helping newbies,,,
I am the guy who applied for the "Freebie" and to be a "folder" I got no response to the offer but have caught a lot of grief since " I asked for a freebie and didn't even know what is was" I apologize.
So, you may see me on here but I'll limit my responses to helping others.

Actually, if you would actually keep it to just one of the folding threads, and the proper one, you would have got more of a response. You posted your question in the wrong thread, that was outdated. BUT, I still replied to you Team 111 Folding Giveaway:
You just haven't been back to the same thread.
And nobody gave you any grief. We just ask if you fold for TechIMO. If you do/did not, then you are not eligible. Those are the only rules to our giveaways, sorry.
Any of use are willing to help you out, just look for the thread with the most current date, and that's what you should post your questions in. Or feel free to PM me anytime.
Good luck, and sorry you got off to a bad start. |

Hey,,,,Guys & Gals,
Do we have an ombudsman at Stanford that can answer some hard questions? I for one am getting tired of watching the stats give out one number, you go in to check the certificate and it's the one before or worse!
I added two more duo core machines running at 2.4 GHZ with 3MG ram over the weekend and my folding across the board has slowed to a crawl. I have one machine ( CPU ) running one fold at 162/300 for two days now? The individual stat sheet isn't even showing my correct processor count. And I am small time compared to our big guns like those above.
I understand the stats are gorked like the servers but those who serve should get served.
I am not going to stop. remember, I am the five year pancreatic survivor and there are only 2 of us in the whole freakin' world. I don't want anyone else to go through what i went through ( still going through )
I know the VP of Ops at TIAA-CREF in Charlotte and I also know they fund Stanford programs. He might be interested to hear that from our perspective we are not getting good service.
Rise Up Team 111!! There's a whole lotta foldin' going on that is not getting reported. We MUST get above our team number in July. let's get to position 110 as soon as possible.
It would be real easy to reach behind the patch panel and disconnect the CAT5 from the switches. But no one wins then.
HELP!

I have a six month old DV9000 series HP notebook with Vista Home Premium 32 running on AMD Turion 64x2. Surprise, it came with 3 gig of ram.
Can I run Vista 64 on this notebook and if so, what advantage does it bring?
Thanks, |

Thanks, | Hi Net...
In theory, it should be able to take Fista on that machine and the factor of a 64-bit install means that you could (at least in theory) up the RAM to make it faster - without the additional RAM being wasted...
In practice, I (personally) wouldn't put it on. This is mainly down to the (relative) strange ways that it has of being too resource hungry... If you wanted a non-XP Windows install, then I would wait for Windows7 to be fully released and put that on it instead...
Personally, I seem to get the impression that Fista was effectively the W7 beta's beta... It seems to have the same structuring and appearance (not to mention some of the apps, like Snipping Tool) of Fista and it just enables you to run things better/faster in W7... |

I just want Greg to check out what i HAVE done and finish putting back on the four cables of which I am unsure. i labeled the wires in the old chassis hoping to use those as a foolproof guideline and it would have worked except the new 500W PSU has different connectors plus a bundles or labeled ( actually stamped very legibly on the plastic connecor ) Thankfully each of the three power strands had one 4 pin molex and the main motherboard was a 20 pin plus a 4 pin buddy connector ( I inserted both the 20 pin AND the 4 pin buddy conector onto the mobo.
Won't cost me a thing but will provide peace of mind before i power up.
So far, I intend on sacrificing the module with all the media card slots. They were connected by a ribbon cable and I have nothing like that. Plus, i can't figure out how to get that sector OUT of the old box, may be riveted in.
I am excited, but nervous.
Next up, build from the ground up, I think it would be easier. Talk about a scarcity of documentation with the new PS. |
