    F@H issues

hey guys, i haven't been able to fold lately - updating vid drivers worked for about a month or two, then i had a nightmare that involved two hours trying to remove bad drivers.. nearly impossible since the PC would blue screen every minute or two.

i want to contribute though does anyone know of some stable drivers for an 8800 GT OC that meet F@H's requirements?

On my 8800gt box I've been running the Xtreme G drivers. They have been stellar for me so far. In games and in folding.

But I hear ya on the bad driver thing. I just did a fresh install of my OS mainly cuz I had drivers that half uninstalled, and half didn't. It was a big PITA I just got sick of, so I reformatted. lol

It was a pain! If I didn't have so much to back up, I would have reformatted too

Where did you download your drivers from KK?

    no joy.

installed 182.50 drivers (released 4/2/09) from nvidia's site and PC blue-screened within an hour of running F@H. since then, i haven't run F@H and things seem to be fine.

Hmm... well that's no good. Are you running any driver cleaners after the uninstalls?
Have you tried just reinstalling folding? Maybe something got messed up in your folder or something..?

Have you tried the xtreme G drivers?

no driver cleaners, thought about removing folding but haven't.. worth a try though.

do you have a direct link to the xg drivers you're using?

I noticed that my GPU would blue screen if it was hot and i tried to launch a game while folding. What i found was if i stopped folding, let the temp drop to a decent level (idle is around 60 and load is 85, so around 78 for me) and then start the game. While in game i restart folding. Might want to check your temps and see if they are getting a bit high.

would you trust the ntune software to give an accurate reading or is there something else you use for temps?

    CPU: 51-55 C
    GPU: ~74 C

they're both a little high, but it's been stable for the past 2 hours!
