I don't know how many of you guys know the problems e-man has been having trying to help me with a computer that will run DC for me.
He sent me a computer (he knew my old faithful was getting tired)- but he didn't know that everything I touch usually blows up in my face.
I got the box plugged it in, it worked and I was happily crunching for oh, about a week. then it was dead. The fans spun and it lit up but didn't send a video signal to the monitor. I was particularly frustrated because I had another box that did the same thing a couple years ago and replacing the video card didn't help.
So what did E-man do? He sent me another one!!! Can you believe it? How generous is this guy? He's awesome! Unfortunately when i got it, it sounded like a box of unwrapped tools in a giant box. The video card came out and then bashed out the hard drive; it must have been like a mosh pit in there! The video card was smashed, and I figured everything else would be too beat to work.
So I put a new power supply in my trusty computer and put in a new video card from the first box that died and nothing. No big deal, and I took out the card and even put my old power supply back in and booted my old trusty computer. wah woe,,, it was no longer trusty and dead.
So today I decided to put everything back together in the shake and bake computer and success!!
Thanks eman!!! You rock!!! It's quiet, fast, and I have room to put my old hard drives in as slaves!! I LOVE IT!! |

| The only concern I have is the cpu fan... it's leaning a bit..
(sorry for the size of this, I don't have editing software on my lappy)
that green on the bottom is the video card, I have it secured and it is not tilted... |

uh oh, you can see my old habit of using thumb screws for components..
(of course the little lever thingy was also beat to death and bent up so I couldn't depend on that and had to screw it in) |

Core temp is installed on that box, just keep an eye on the temp. Obviouly if it is going above 72c or higher the cpu hsf should be reset.

I looked for it and didn't see it, I'll look again when I reboot.
Hmmm there's only one IDE connection... can I string 2 hd slaves and the dvd together? |

yes that ide can take 2 ide devices, two max. also by the clock there should be a red number , doppel click on it and see what is the temp. if not a shortcut should be on the desktop.
also make sure the ide devices are either master or slave. I know I set either the dvd or ide drive as cable select. If you are adding another ide drive put it as cable select. |

Why? Why not just slave them in? I know the DVD was set to cable select and I changed it to Slave and popped in the hard drive that is also slaved...
Now you have to tell me why it only works with CS... Because it sees the DVD player but not the hard drive... |

If the other one is set to master, then the other one must be set to slave. I don't think they can be set as master/cable select or vice versa. I could be wrong idk.
Either way as long as both ide device is recognize, then all is good. |
