Got the 2 Gemini II heat sinks I ordered from the CM store today . . . They came with an AMD board backplate, but not one for an Intel. Works fine for me, as you guys can keep those crappy I7 boards with the memory leak issues.

Money's starting to come in now with wifey working for the state . . . that means everything will be caught up and extra money for a couple upgrades in Oct or Nov. Then add a couple vid cards and start retiring the lower performing cards. Thinking of adding 3 AM3 boards with maybe the Phenom II 955 or 965, to replace the 2 donations and maybe another 2 3800+'s. Just got to figure out how to get it past the wifey.

The previous version of that was what I was trying to talk you into. It only has 4 pci-e slots, you can only use 3 with the double gpu's. This new one, should get 4 in there nicely. The only trick will be to power all of the gpu's.

With 12gb of RAM I doubt you would notice if you had a memory leak.....

Package is in route, scheduled delivery is 09/03. 4lbs? thought it only weighed 2lbs. Must be some heavy duty cardboard used in that box

nah, just all of the brown paper packaging used in the box when I got what ever was in it from newegg LOL, probably almost 50 feet of it at least LOL...

in addition to what KK posted about that board, this might start Wetting JJ's appetite...

    EVGA | Articles | EVGA Classified 4-Way SLI & GTX 285 Classified

4 285 Classifieds in SLI and that board but for Folding, there's no doubt that board should support four of those cards at once.

figure anywhere from 24K to 36K PPD (6K to 9K PPD per card)

Thats 24 to 36K ppd. Will it do 4-295's ( 50-64k ppd )? I don't care about quad or octo-SLI, I rarely game. Mine was in SLI to run 3dmark and it hasn't been back since.

My setups are mainly for routine stuff, internet, MS Office components, the occasional game ( handled by a 275 easy ) and folding ( the more the better, no SLI needed ). The extra gpu's are just there to fold. The mega-SLI would be nice for benchmark bragging but thats it.

I am figuring the board Karma mentioned, an i7, and 2-295's initially, see how it does and add more if possible. Have to watch heat and power.

Just trying to figure if the board will handle 4-295' or 300's? Will the i7 even handle them? Will the ps (Corsair 1000HX ) have enough wires and amps to handle them?

I believe the board will take 4 295's.... The HX1000 will not cope with 4 of them.....

The i7 will manage considering its clocked quite high also.....

same link you guys criticized me on

    Requirements
Minimum of a 550 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 40 Amps.)
Three available 6-pin PCI-E power dongles

    sheesh

should of been a hint at that

so I suppose its a good thing I posted that link then, huh?

besides KK's didn't show both products together. and yeah I did see the link he posted the other day, but you have to click the 2nd tab to where it says 4x SLI support. Usually with you guys I just take your word on what you said, since some of you read up on this stuff a bit more than I do, so no need for me to switch to the 2nd tab and read features, just look at the specs tab, and I'm done reading about it LOL.

    Heh.

Well im lazy, would rather watch the film than read the book.

    (point taken).

Anyway... Those EVGA 285 classifieds are $379.99 in the EVGA store. So they are only slightly more expensive than the standard 285.

So i may have mentioned ive been since since last week, found out that someone i was in contact with has gone home with the swine flu. Fun stuff.

Called my hopsital and asked to speak with an advice nurse who informed me that unless i have a high fever of over 102 degrees, i should have a normal flu. I am so not happy.

I may have some time on my hands as i am forced to stay home to "rest" ... who the hell stays home to rest these days at my age?
