Well I got to reading about it.. and in theory, it's kind of pointless..
I say this because there are very few Nvidia GPU's that support anything more then Tri-SLI, so other then just straight folding, I don't get it.
Also factor in those multi PCIe MSI AMD boards are like 1/4 of the price, and those will do 4 GPU's... so for the price of this board, you in theory could have 16x PCIe slots with the AMD board...
Seems like a better deal to me.

    Yea.... *sighs*

On the other hand, in my search I found this is one of the few GPU's that do in fact support Quad SLI

Okay ... So as i mentioned in the other thread, i think this rig is through for anything more then idle work.

I am currently on a C2D E7200 with 4 gigs of ram on a decent, but only 1 PCI-E slot, mobo.

With the new intel line up coming with the i-series ... I need to get ideas for what to buy. Budget is roughly 600 bucks, I think i can swing this much between now and end of october. I need for sure; Mobo, CPU, RAM, GPU.

Here is the parts list i have from newegg:

Newegg.com - Antec Sonata III 500 Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply - Computer Cases
    Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
    Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
    Newegg.com - G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI-B - Desktop Memory

Id like to use the current case, upgrade to the Earthwatts 700 and then swap out the guts. Any additional ideas?

    EDIT:

I had an 8800GT that i had to RMA and they sent me a refurb. The refurb died and i want to upgrade so i dont plan on using it in the new rig.

^^^ So thats what you have currently.... Are you planning to jump up to an i5 or something or are you gonna pick up a soon to be cheaper quad?

That case looks a little cramped....

    The Antec 750W....

....Has a max of 56A on the +12v's So you could get a couple of 275's... not sure 2x 285's will be a good idea.....

SLI 275s would kick ass over my 8800GT. It really was an improvement over my 6800 but im ready for another jump in performance.

Just thinking about getting SLI down the road makes me giddy. I may settle for a single 275 now and wait for a second one since my budget is rather low for such a performance aspect.

Well with the $600 you could afford... 275, Gigabyte mobo, PII x4, 2x2gb DDR3.... You would have to use the EA500 till you can afford the second 275....

    PIIx4?

I hadnt thought of using the Earthwatts 500 actually ... That would save a bit of money now and get me the incremental build up of the rig ...

I wonder if i can find an old tower for free and throw the old guts into it to run.

Phenom II x4..... unless you can find a intel quad around, but for the price the PIIx4 will get you more PPD....

(This is if you not jumping to the 'i' series....).

Heh... figure it is still useable and no point spending a good portion of your budget on something you cant really use yet....
