Alright guys, we've had lots of talk, and we all know this needs to be done.
So, this is the thread where we can setup the giveaways, and figure out prizes, etc...
So first to have a giveaway, we well, need something to giveaway. Many member have expressed interest in putting something up for grabs, so I don't think this is gonna be a problem. If you would like to volunteer for this, then send me a PM and we can get something worked out.
Next on the agenda, figure out a way to give the stuff away! We've done just normal "post in this thread to be eligible" giveaways in the past, but in talking to a few members we'd like to make sure they're active, and more importantly devoted to folding. Which again, I don't see a problem here.
As far as idea's for giveaways, I'm all ears. Ideas that's crossed my mind:
1. 2 Man Team point competition (lots of details but I'm gonna keep it short)
2. Race to xxx points
3. Random post in this thread you might win thread.
Again, I'm all ears for better ideas.
Umm.... trying to think of what else there needs to be here... Hmmm..
Well.. I can't think of anything else.. lol It's late and I'm tired.. I just wanted to get the ball rolling on this.. Post ideas, thoughts, whatever you want. But PLEASE don't make this a spam thread. I wanna try to keep this organized chaos OK. |

To get new folders.
A set time period, maybe a month, with a minimum number of updates in this time. This way we get some new blood. Those with not so big a cpu/gpu can help too get an update or 2 a day and be eligible.
Go off a daily number, a power ball or something else like this for the winning draw.
See what others want to do. I'll kick something in, if I can get to get it.
Can we see if TIMO will put something up? Having a top 100 ( soon ) folding team and all the hits on the website here have to be generating some revenue.

I'm still game for putting Karma's rig up as a prize. LOL. I'm in on this. Money's a bit tight again as I'm back in school (sigh) but I'll donate when I can.

Some good idea's JJ. I'm not sure if Admin would put up anything or not TBH, so I'm not sure what to say there.
But you have some good ideas for sure. Let's see if others comment on the thread
@Bat, I'm sure nobody wants my system, so we better just put yours up for grabs. |

The thing that comes to mind is a Qualifier ...
So, we all know about what to expect for our PPD and in turn our PPWeek and PPMonth. What if we have each new folder qualify by joining the team and having them get monitored for a week to get their expected PPD, PPW, and PPM.
Simple giveaways that are cheap and inexpensive can use a PPD qualifier to enter then a random drawing to win. IE: If I average a PPD of 600points, i need to meet or exceed that in PPM to qualify for the entry. Once i submit my desire to be entered into the drawing all i have to do is make sure i continue to get my PPD up and over my expected PPM.
Now for say larger items, say some RAM, HD's, etc we can you a PPW qualifier. The idea is that this should be a larger expected goal to meet.
Now for say a MOBO/CPU or a slick GPU we can instead use an expected PPM qualifier to make sure that the folders trying for it fold their best for the month of the give away.
Now granted, this would essentially require someone to monitor and spreadsheet out all the folders who are active in the forums to make sure that we have some basis for an expected PPD, PPW, and PPM to go off of but i think it makes you a bit more invested in the folding.
Maybe do an "extra" entry in the drawing based on percentages over your expected PPD/PPW/PPM numbers? |

The little guy that would benefit most from a new GPU will never win a race for points, and it is way to easy for somebody to Sandbag/cheat in a points competition. I think a Lottery would be more fare for all involved. I'm not saying the Big PPD players shouldn't get some sort of a bonus, but everybody should have a realistic chance of winning.

Indeed, also bear in mind that a F@H newbie might not know/understand the shortened codes we all do (PPD, WU etc) and may not know how big a number 600 PPD is - also bear in mind that this takes around a week to level off anyway, so if they're getting an average of 620 PPD the first time it would be above 600 PPD would be the about the sixth day...
On a slightly separated note, does TIMO (and any other of Scott's sites - RR etc) own the web-server or have it hosted elsewhere...? If the server is owned, then could we run F@H on it - or are we already...??

My opinion is that we need a database assigning each member a number and then a way to select a number. ALSO if you are the person donating the prize you should be inelgible to win.
In addition if we have someone who is competent in HTML or something a website with a live drawing. It doesn't have to be fancy maybe the admin would sponser a "drawing page" showing the pick number and winner |

I just meant to have everything be as transparent and public as possible. |
