Awesome.
Welcome to the team.
Here is something that will help with the setup.

Well hey, nice to see ya come onboard!
So just so everyone knows what we're working with, we have
I7 920 C0 - at 4.2Ghz
2x 285's in SLI
Those are the important details.
First, GPU's are gonna get you crazy points. So I think that's the first place to start (not to mention CPU can be funny to setup sometimes)
So first, go into your C: drive (or whatever drive you want) and make 2 folders, 1 named GPU1, one named GPU2
Download this:
http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandeg..._Vista-623.zip
Install into the folders you created.
Next, make sure you disable SLI on your system ( I think we talked about this yesterday) but you can leave your bridge on if you want.
Open the first folder you made, fill in your username, and team #111. When asked for "advanced options" make sure you say yes.
It asks if you want small/med/large Work Units (WU) you can run whatever. Large get 1888 points per WU, but take longer. Small get 353/496 but take shorter. But basically just hit enter till it asks for "Machine ID" doesn't matter what you change it to, just make sure nothing else on that PC is using the same ID. The find "Additional Client Parameters" and you need to enter "-gpu 0" for the first GPU. Then repeat this process in the 2nd folder, but in "additional client parameters" enter in "-gpu 1" for the 2nd GPU.
That'll get your gpu's going strong, and probably get you in our top 10 for PPD for the team.
Get that going first, then we'll work on the CPU clients.

^^^ As mentioned above don't forget to change machine ID also (which is in advanced options).

Welcome to the team. Those gpus will add a nice hefty boost. SMP client on the i7 ( 50% cpu ) will also do you 2500-3200ppd.
Don't know if Karma told you but you do need a monitor or dummy plug connected to each gpu for it to work. If you only have 1 monitor, and it has 2 inputs, you can do it that way too. You must extend the deskto across.

Well you have a couple of options. You can use those DVI>VGA adapters that always come with the GPU's, and make "dummy" plugs out of them. It takes about $3 at radioshack in stuff, and about 5 mins of time to actually make them.. I'll dig up a guide for it..

First part is correct. Monitor or dummy plug to fold on the 2nd card. One monitor per card basically.
And TBH, the P4's don't put out for the power they use. IMHO
I think it would be better/easier just to have the 2nd 285 to your lcd.
I don't see anyone under that name for our team in stats. You might double check the PS3 to make sure it's folding under team 111.

And bat blames me all the time for getting people hooked on this, don't listen to him, he's crazy or something..

Ok bit of a problem, i did exactly whta you said karma for the GPU, but the second one "GPU2" isn't letting me change my machine id so both GPU0 and GPU1 are on machine id 2.

Ah nvm i got it working.
Ok now how do i setup up CPU?
-
September 23rd, 2009, 02:08 PM #20
Errmm.. CPU can be tricky..
First step, make sure you have a password for your Windows Username account.
2 Shut off UAC (if you haven't already)
3 Create a folder named "SMP" in the same spot you made the GPU folders.
(I should mention, right now AFAIK, each SMP will use 4 cores, so it may take 2x SMP's to actually max out your CPU. But JJ would know better then me tbh)
4. Download:

5. Find me on the IM'er.. lol
