    New GTX295 installed

    Aaron,

I am dying here. I installed my new Gigabyte GTX295, uninstalled the ATI 4850 drivers, installed from the CD the new software and got every prompt the install guide told me I would.

Kept getting a message pop us that f@h has encountered a serious error and would shut down. It did. I went back to the stanford dowload page and downloaded the new.6.23 and as opposed to SMP client it appears to be a GPU client.

I can see progress in the CMD window, it down loaded a 10G file, ( I selected BIG ) and it's already at 22%. The CMD window is where it asked for user and team name, no problems.

Display is crisp and certainly the 3D demo is impressive.

One obvious disadvantage is no sys tray icon from which to log on to the Team folding page to see standings but I can do that from any machine.

As it started up I witnessed it go pull down fah_82.exe for the core and for this large a file it seems to be rocking.

Am I overlooking something obvious? Could I see activity from the nVidia control panel. Having the CMD window open seems wrong. Here's where I show all my ignorance. When I checked My Computer, control panel, devices it showed TWO GTX295, one at address 3 and the other at address 4. I disabled 4 ( it's still there. Is that normal? I rebooted twice.

Should I delete all F@H programs and go back to main page and just download 6.22 SMP? Seems a waste. Have I installed the program as a service?

Any input would be appreciated from any of you heavyweights. I am competing for what I calculate to be only 2 spots left in the Top20 for million pointers.

Card was a little bit longer but no problem. And my big 100 watt PSU had plenty of 6 & 8 pin connectors. Went in without a hitch.

    Help?

    Thanks,

Thanks for doing that. Didn't see an applicable thread and if I go to "forums" I cannot see where to start a new thread. Sorry about that.

    Net,

As make sure you download latest drivers from nvidia site...

    Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

You should re-do the setup file... download this client....

    (system tray)
    Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

    (Console XP)

    (Console Vista/7)

Just to let you know it will show up as two cards in device manager as such because it has two GPU cores.... You will need to have two gpu clients running, and in 'additional parameters' (under advanced options) you need -gpu 0 (in one) and -gpu 1 (in the other). Make sure they have a different machine ID also.

Wait how long you been here and you don't know how to make a new thread

Just hit the "new topic button"

Since June 1. And I belong to other forums as well. There is NO "newtopic" button on my screen. Didn't realize you could change the layout either. My "most active discussions" is on the RH side of the screen, not in the center.

I rarely have the need. I spend most of my time helpings newbs with networking issues and participating in existing threads.

I apologize. I think I add value but I don't want to be a "rule breaker".

And, vying for one of the maybe 2 spots left in the Top 20 AND make the millionaire club simultaneously.

I'll do better but i do appreciate your input.

    Thank You,

I am going to let it finish this run. The first download was 2,500,000 steps and I am 54% done in under 2 hours.

    Thanks Aaron,

Well you have to be in a sub forum not the "main "forum" page in order to post new threads. To change the layout you hit the little arrows where it says most active discussions.

I apologize. I think I add value but I don't want to be a "rule breaker".
You didn't specifically break any rules but taking over someone else's thread isn't really appropriate. If it was a related question that'd be on thing but this was way OT
