Dual GPU Setup F@H
Ok, guys, need basically Laymans terms and explanations on how to set up a dual GPU setup to Fold Properly.
Have the GTX 285 and 9800 GTX installed, latest Win7 64 Drivers, running fine, its setup right for PhysX, but Folding points is less than desired.
FahMon won't even register an estimate in PPD for the 9800GTX, and the GTX 285 by itself is doing 8K+ PPD, as soon as I enable the 2nd GPU console client for the 9800GTX, points drop 2K or more PPD for the 285...
I thought this was supposed to be fixed with latest versions of the client and Nvidia Drivers?
I have the 1st client (assuming this one is the 285, since its getting 8 Grand), set for Machine ID 2, and the 2nd client set for Machine ID 3.
was there some sort of Flags I was supposed to enable?
as you can see in the attached pic, points are atrociously Low, especially for the 285...
any way to fix this?
edit: it looks like their both doing different jobs, but not sure. but they shouldn't have the work divided amongst themselves like that, they're acting almost like they're sharing the work load for one job...Last edited by ShyguyXPC; January 12th, 2010 at 05:00 AM.

Sounds like you may need to put the gpu flags in. Off the top of my head it is in advanced options, ---> additional client parameters. Sounds like you are doing 2 seperate WU's but just using the 285. Use -gpu 0 for the first client and -gpu 1 for the second.
Another way to check this is to look at temps. on the gpus, make sure they both go up. ( can't read the pic. in the thumbnail, it's all blurry for me ).
It may also be that your cpu is bottle necking the gpu's and this may be the hit you take.
If this doesn't work, it may also be some sort of issue like dissimilar gpu's. I haven't really looked into this yet.Last edited by Flying JJ; January 12th, 2010 at 05:54 AM.

Core i7 920 even at stock shouldn't be bottlenecking the GPU's at all.
I'll try the GPU flags, see if that makes a difference.
one thing I do know, unlike before with just the 285, is that the temp doesn't climb as it once did, nor does the GPU fans.
but will try the flags, see what they do.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

Bingo, that did it, Fahmon is showing 8K+ for the 285, & just under 4K for the 9800GTX (seems a bit low, but just be the job its on).
now just have to figure out why EVGA Precicion only shows Temps for 2nd GPU and won't show it for 1st, yet it'll show Clocks, fan speeds, etc for both? (latest version downloaded and installed as far as I know too, 1.8.1)
edit: Ok, now PPD has jumped for the 9800GTX... now just need to figure out how to get SMP working right for the i7...
Then later in the week, the 3 Radeon 4800's.
attached image of current FahMon estimates.Last edited by ShyguyXPC; January 12th, 2010 at 06:31 AM.
