    LOL.

Yeah, I generally suck at playing pool, I understand how its played, and what you need to do, but I just suck at figuring out the geometry and physics beyond the 1st bounce off the sides, or after hitting a ball the first time. I usually try to play defensively preventing the cue from going in the pocket, be it hit under a bit for back spin so once I hit the # Ball, it travels backwards to prevent from going in with the # Ball.

Or hitting along side for side spin to get it to hit the # Ball, but steer away from pocket, only times I hit it dead center or top spin is for longer distance shots or if 2 balls or more are lined up, to transfer the kinetic energy to all of them, to sink as many as possible LOL.

but I haven't played REAL LIFE Pool, in probably 8 to 10 years, always been Computer/Video game pool.

I use all sorts of spin, topspin, side spin, backspin, swerve, and decide which is best to use based on where I want the cue ball to go and what I want it to do...so I might use top/right spin to hit the object ball and then get it to straighten up as it goes forwards (if I'm making the object ball move to my right) or to nudge some other ball/s that are to the right to enable me to play one of them next, or to take some speed of the cue ball, or something like that...or just to get a good line/position from when it comes off the side...

I used to play snooker though, which is where I learned the spin control - but I stopped playing that as it was too much walking (12' tables) and the pockets were much more difficult to pot with than pool tables..........and our pool tables have tiny pockets compared to the buckets that the US tables have...which prolly helped me to be unbeatable in San Jose.. Admittedly, I did end up with the cue ball in the bucket pocket a couple of times, but that was mainly either at the start (when I was learning how the table played) or at the end (when I'd had ~8 double SoCo drinks) and was starting to have to close one eye...

No not that. Long story short, my gf is losing her job and we dont know if they will do a transfer to another position. Even if they do the transfer, it would mean moving to a more expensive area and taking a pay hit. They have not laid her off or anything so she is still working, but we have to preemptively pack and be ready to move at any time basically. Should she find another job or accept the transfer, we have a couple of days to move out of the current apartment. Sigh ...

    Sucks being in limbo.

GTX 560 Ti arrived today, despite a "late train" in the shipping process.

EVGA actually reissued a Delivery time and tracking due to the delay, which was well beyond their responsibility since it was already in transit and in UPS's hands.

As I mentioned on FB, though EVGA has always been known for their products and great CS, but this ranks them right up there with FrozenCPU IMO, as far as customer service goes.

Took a good look at the card, and as I suspected, it does look a tad smaller than the GTX 470 which is good.

one thing I didn't realize was the Power connectors are at the butt of the card, instead of on top, but no big deal really, just that I prefer connetors on the top edge of cards instead. but since it is shorter, shouldn't be an issue.

Also got Corel Video Studio X4 in the mail today too.

Despite the fact I can't really use 3D well for videos, they included some Red/Blue 3D glasses to use for video projects. To my surprise their ACTUAL glasses, not some cheapo cardboard ones.

And of course Thursday I got an email from Corel with an Upgrade offer from this version to the "Pro" version for a reduced price of $70 or $80 LOL...

oh well, this will do for now, and future, as it uses CUDA and acceleration, and supports Bluray playback, recording, etc.

    An update from me....

    I'm back home in Blighty..!!

I took a load of video clips (all on YT) and have been updating my 'other' site [not Nude_Lewd_Man's Site ] to incorporate them all into one page, and have uploaded a pretty large number of pics too....just need to re-code all of my pages due to the script I was using before throwing a hissy fit and deciding that it wants to be precious and only show things that are all in lower case (and my camera only does CAPS for the naming, including using the JPG in caps....and I can't be arsed to feck about re-naming the 00's of pics) and is also deciding randomly whether it will show clips/etc too....

Anyway, I was in Montreal yesterday when I got an e-mail (to my personal e-dress) to tell me that I no longer work for the company I've been employed for the last 16 months............................................ . ..........................as another company (one of our major partners: they sell our heads in front of their storage; we sell their storage behind our heads; they also use us for "level 2" support, like File System (FS) corruption, software issues on our head, node resets/crashes, heap issues, etc) have bought us... This is something of a shock to me, as it was only a month ago that the CEO was over and in one meeting he said that we weren't for sale.... o.O

Anyway, nothing changes for me for now, and (in the words of my boss) doesn't look like there is likely to for a fair while....and [for my CV] it could be shown to be working for Hitachi....

Yeah, I'm now an employee of Hitachi ("HDS" to be specific) and they have to TUPE me (and everyone else) over... I've got a meeting tomorrow(??) to discuss what benefits I will now be entitled to as an employee of HDS, and maybe there will need to be a new contract to sign - with the new T&Cs, and maybe a change to some of my working conditions (like, maybe a change to how often I have to work a weekend, hopefully!) and/or a pay rise...

    AWESOME!!!

News on my end ... So i have accepted a job with a newly merged pharmacorp. I will be doing desktop/help desk support for them as they staff up. I am relocating to the east bay from the south bay, near you san jose office. I have just received word that I was approved at my new apartment so i will be moving at the end of the month as well. My gf also accepted a new position with a new company and we are both looking forward to the downgrade in workload for her.

I am fortunate to have a college extension campus accross the street from my new apartment so i will be applying to return to school come their next semester opening. They offer a few certifcate prep degree courses so i will be attempting to get a more formal education in computers. (As a note, i only have a AA in Creative Writing, go figure) I am excited to start this new adventure and although i will miss the people i work with and for now, I will not miss the workload.

Cheers to us moving on up!

    Congrats..!

In other news, I've almost finished re-writing one of my other sites...as the script I'd been using before had suddenly decided to get all precious and case sensitive, meaning that it wasn't listing the images that were there... There's just a couple of things left for me to do now, like add a few more links and thumbnails, but it does look (IMHO) considerably better...

I also had my "new employee benefits" meeting yesterday, long story short; not a bad thing...will now start getting (a chance at getting) a bonus, will get more cover for certain things if I'm ill, and some other benefits will be able to be opted into too...and I might get a(nother) boost in pay - although that wouldn't be until April...

Sent JJ that PM via here, since he hasn't posted since last year on OCN, didn't show when he was last on over there, but last activity here was some time this summer, so hopefully he'll get the PM and reply back, see what ever happened with that chip.

Are you on Skype..? I see him online on there every now and again...don't get the chance to chat with him that often though - it is either just before I leave work, just before I go to bed, or while I'm at work and it is too busy to chat...

He sent me an I'm last weekend, as he'd seen that it was my "online" birthday... (The birthday I use for everything online, including motor insurance quotes, is *not* my actual birthday...but not far off...)

nah, for some reason I still have issues with Skype on this rig, and 99.9% sure its some sort of compatibility issue with the sound card I run, where it hard locks the PC when logging into my skype account from with in windows, meanwhile I can log into my account on the Skype page for info, etc, and no problem.

Skype works fine on my mom's netbook, but I hate using that thing for anything but web browsing.

Even with 2GB RAM, Win 7 Starter Edition, it lags like a mutha, all the damn Asus crap running, along with Adobe Crap, and then what I have installed for her.

When I start using the EVGA board, I'm going to try the onboard audio and see how that does, but Skype will have to be one of the first things I try, see if it does work.

Oh, and waiting for Paypal transfer to clear from bank, hopefully by Wednesday, then I can send payment to that one guy, a few more days or so, and will have that i7 940 to use.

I was perusing Newegg earlier, and was looking at the RAM, thinking I may actually buy myself some good 1600MHz OCing RAM, a good 6GB kit (3x2GB), then stuff my existing 6GB in the PC for my brother.

(basically in a nutshell, I'll have an entirely NEWER i7 Build after all is said and done LOL.

Come to think of it, the only things that will be carried over is Windows 7, and the PSU, everything else will be brand new or newer

CPU, Mobo, RAM, HDD's, Bluray DVD (still have to get one), Case, CPU Cooler, Case Fans. Only other thing might be the Thermaltake 5.25" bay storage drawer. And last but not least, the GPU (GTX 560 Ti).
