[F@H SPAM August 2011] Brain Fart...???
New Spam Thread, Out of Idea's for Thread Title, its been 3 months since last one, so figured a new Thread.
Basically A Brain Fart on Idea's for the Title, so thats the new Title "Brain Fart"
Anyways, Payday today... I COULD get a single GTX 570, but I'd have less than $175 to last me for the next 2 weeks.
So thats off the list. GTX 560 Ti... Could grab one of those, would leave me with Almost $250 for 2 weeks.
Or the GTX 470, that would leave me with almost $270 for 2 weeks.
I REALLY Don't want to deal with the louder fans during the winter (no AC running to drown out the fans), I also don't want to run too much power draw out of the PC, in case I added a 3rd card for Folding Or PhysX while the other 2 are in SLI.
Or in the case of the 470's, potentially 3 Way SLI. My PSU only puts out 720W on the +12V (750W max unit rating), and 3 GTX 470's would be hitting 600+, leaving very little for the rest of the system and Overclocking.
so the 560's are looking more and more enticing.
I'll probably nab the 560 Ti, but even the standard 560 (couple of those in SLI), would be doable.
from what I understand the standard 560 is very close to the GTX 470 in performance and the 560 Ti is just ahead of it.
Was really hoping Newegg would come to my rescue with a really sweet open box item, (GTX 570, Radeon 6970), but so far nothing yet, they've been slim pickings for recertified and Open box GPU's lately.
In other news, I'm starting to rethink my whole Mini ITX system Idea, I'll probably still put it together and use for a basic use system or something, but I'm REALLY liking those new AMD Llanos based Quad core systems, that one 2.9GHz Quad is pretty sweet, mainly the integrated GPU, was reading a review last night, a month old, and was THOROUGHLY impressed with the gaming frame rate and ability of it.
Finally a motherboard/CPU combo with no real need for a dedicated GPU, and that is really truly capable of budget gaming.
Just the CPU, Mobo, RAM, a Hard drive, Optical drive, small case, and low powered Power supply, add in the OS and some games, and its a small sleek low powered budget gaming setup.
AMD A8-3850 2.9GHz Llano APU Review - AMD A-Series APU's For Desktop - Lynx - Legit Reviews
for an integrated GPU to be able to pull almost 30fps in one of the STALKER games at 1080p, THAT is impressive:
AMD A8-3850 2.9GHz Llano APU Review - S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat - Legit Reviews
Nearly 40fps with 4x AA enabled at 1080p in HAWX 2: AMD A8-3850 2.9GHz Llano APU Review - H.A.W.X. 2 Benchmark - Legit Reviews
Again, impressive.
Though it uses more power than a Core i3 setup, its gaming performance was far greater.
now if only one could find a reasonably priced Mini ITX setup for these... (in other words a cheap enough mobo, that won't run as much as the CPU in costs)
I would LOVE to stuff something like this in my Lian Li Case.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

HOLY WALL OF TEXT OF AN OP...!!!
I was actually thinking about starting a new thread off earlier, but as I'm only using the BlackBerry for web-browsing when I'm at home, and I've been busy with work (and trying to catch/keep up with the threads I've got subbed over at OCn) with a possible/potential "promotion" that my boss is [allegedly] trying to line up for me, and we're out of (or at least VERY low on) certain parts - 51 available globally, we've got ~60 that are needed to replace parts that we're aware are due to expire in the next two/three weeks, and there's around ~8 weeks from ordering to delivery of those parts...so I've been busy configuring a spreadie that I can just paste a couple of columns into that will automagically update the totals for each region...
Oh, and I've recently come into a load of new schtuffs...so much that I actually *had* to take the car to bring it back - there was too much for me to bring back on my bike; even if I took a couple of days to stuff my daysack with as much as I could squeeze in.... I'll paste a link to the post in my Team's thread in a bit....
I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...Whenever someone says "You can't miss it", I invariably do...

so all those laptops and the BB Playbook were already spoken for?
Or were they still available?
figured I'd ask.

myself, I'm donating my last 9600 GSO (Asus 96 Shader 512MB version) to someone, as well as picked them up a Recertified OCZ StealthXStream 500W from Directron.com for $17 (28 after shipping), so they can enjoy some gaming again. The guy is in poor health again, doesn't have much income, had much of his stuff as well as some hardware I donated him last year stolen when he was in the Hospital this past fall, house was burglarized. He doesn't buy online at all, doesn't trust online purchases and using his credit/debit cards, or even Paypal. Will only buy from Brick and Mortar stores, Since he was looking at a pawn shop or similar with a 430W no name PSU for his PC, I found some decent deals on Best Buy's Website, where you can order from in store, wait for it to arrive and pay then, a Decent 400-450W Coolermaster PSU, for $40-ish.
but this OCZ would be a better deal, more power, cheaper in price, and even with shipping costs, it would be cheaper, plus he can just send me a money order for the PSU costs and told him shipping was free.
may take a week or so to get it to him, but he'll be able to play some of his games and flight sims again.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

yeah, would be nice.
Though I'm not sure what I will do with it, sell it or keep it (probably the latter and stuff into the 939 system for Folding along with migrate the 285 into it once I grab a second 560/560 Ti, as both the 470 and 285 are a bit over kill for any sort of PhysX stuff) Though wouldn't mind getting a couple single slot 430/440's in the 2 remaining slots on the new board for Folding. If my PSU was up to the task I'd consider a couple GTS 450 Single slots as well, Newegg had a GTS 450 Single slot as Open box a day or two ago for $97.
If I had a bigger PSU (and really don't want to toss in one of those Auxiliary PSU's from Thermaltake or FSP), I would probably consider a 2nd or even 3rd 470, but at 215W a piece, that adds up quick (3x = 645W), though the noise would be a bit overwhelming with 3 of those blowers at 80% or more.
But going to wait until tomorrow before I hit the "Buy" button on a card, maybe something will come in on Newegg, but I doubt it, with the dry spell of cards for Recert/Open Box they've had lately.
Though there has been a HUGE influx of PNY cards recertifieds on there lately, some decent deals, but some of the PNY cards have been known to be a bit spotty with reliablilty, others not so bad.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

You can always just get another standard 400W Corsair/seasonic PSU and have that running the system and your 750W doing the GPUs.

ghetto rig (instead of using the term Nig Rig in case thats too racially offensive... ) the PSU outside the case, Don't think the 690 II has the room for a 2nd PSU.
but I found out I got a sh*t load of hours scheduled for work next week (next Pay period), so I may just wait another 2 weeks to get a card. (I may be able to swing the extra cash for a 570 if they have one with that check)
thinking I might pick up a Nintendo Wii from Gamestop tomorrow, for $100 or so and see if I can find one of the racing games compatible with the Logitech Force Feedback Steering wheel I have for the Wii.
Since my Gamecube is busted (latch for lid is messed up, so would need to use tape to keep lid shut while games are run), I can some play Wii games, classics via their online service, netflix if I want, and old GC games. Mainly interested in a couple RPG's, Mario games, and a few other odds and ends.
I'm not that much of a Console gamer anymore, so its not a bad deal, its cheap, its newer, but not too much of an investment for console gaming.
Plus its something else for my Dad to do or use while at home instead of watching TV all day. Gets him some exercise and what not.
not sure how effective the opera browser is on it, but he could use it to read stuff online if possible as well, which he likes to use on my moms netbook from time to time.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

Oh, forgot to mention lastnight (and don't know whether you guys read the later posts to see) that I've now got a spare TX950 sitting in a box on my desk at work, and I have nothing to do with it...might see about shoving it on fleabay or something like that, I already have two PSUs just taking up space on my computer unit - along with 6 or 7 GPUs now, and a couple of TB of drives that are just spares...
Got an engineer coming round today from Virgin Media, but (as I half expected when I booked it) the issue isn't here right now..so they'll be troubleshooting an intermittent issue with nothing to see when they get here...
Having said that, the third morning of overnight drops took a few hours longer to recover [services returned at ~11:00 instead of 07:30-07:45 that it had the previous two mornings] so there's a possibility that maybe Virgin Media actually took my rant down the phone to them (both the script-reader guy and the floor manager...
) telling them that the issue from Sunday, where there was an "area issue" causing loss of telly and WAN services, is/was likely to still be needing resolution, whereas they considered it "fixed"...
IDK, trying to tell someone who was a network troubleshooter before getting into storage networks and all the connectivity issues that can arise with fibre optic cables...that what I'm seeing and troubleshooting is something that "isn't an issue"...

To quote Aaron, or to Edit the quote a bit...
If only you lived near me... Would be having that TX950 off you..
Then I'd be able to run 3 GTX 470's in Tri SLI with my rig
THAT might be worth the extra noise from them... not only that but could help save some heat cost in the house during the winter LOL. My Bedroom would be nice and toasty warm all winter

Well I would buy that off NLM.. If I didn't have TX950 already.

I struggle to keep my room cool enough, the 9800GX2 under water folding 24/7 and the two GTX260s pumping out 80+ C.... Can't wait for winter....

Yeah, I hear that...the other day it was about 30*C in the
studycomputer room and that was with only WKS04 and SRV01 online (and I've stopped Folding with SRV01 after it started to have services hanging the other day) and the windows and doors through wide open for airflow through there...
I'll prolly put the PSU up on the marketplace over at OCn...presuming I've got enough REP to do that...I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...Whenever someone says "You can't miss it", I invariably do...

Price to send to Sweden is the same as it is for any of the ~7 countries that I tried within EU. It does throw a fit if I change the weight to 5.1 kg though, so if the box is any heavier than the label suggests, IDK what it would be...
Looking at the receipt for when I sent it out, to Corsair, I feel a bit diddled - as that weighed 3.363 kg and cost £40 exactly.
