| Hey Snowman
Where'd ya get the info that an AMD XP could run in MP mode? Would be useful for RC5.
Inquiring minds want to know.
BTW, Izzy is gaining on ya

All you have to do (well at least on up to the XP1800+ (what I used or up to the 2000+ by what I've been told and read) is to close the last L5 bridge. I have a link to it in the "moddin" forum in the thread dealing with my new box.
PS. Izzzy won't

Thanks much Snowman.
The last modding I had done was making the old slot 1 celerons run in dual mode; I have two sets in my retired processor box. I didn't do it myself but a tech friend did it.
I'll give it a look/see.

Mntsnow,
So the mod is not just limited to the MSI mobo? I think I like your gigabyte mobo better since it does have a raid. Its been a while since a simple modification can be made on a cpu to get most bang for the buck.
I take it that the system has been stable since the setup? The article stated that initially there was overheating problem. Did you encounter any? Or any "by the way e....."
Thanks

This L5 SMP mod trick for XP processors isn't limited to any mainboards has far as I know. The only difference between the Athlon MP and XP is the L5 bridge, nothing more... I've also built a Dual XP 1800+ system on a Tyan S2466N-4M mainboard. Running rock stable without an issues... |

There it is, two confirmation from people that been there and done that. Definitely the next project to mess with. My BP6's have been retired too long and kind of missed them even with the headaches. Thanks.
BTW, whatever DC project I put on these box would be real happy. But then again that is my excuse on why I build such silly boxes.
