yeah, was looking into whether I could just build my own Google TV based box, but seems your limited to dedicated set top boxes, or devices with it already installed.

I read somewhere someone suggested looking in to Boxee, but even their website is useless, you can buy the over priced Boxee Box, or the USB based Boxee dongle thing.

I see nothing for downloads of the software.

So... if thats the case, I might as well build the Mini ITX system I'd been wanting for a while for the TV anyways. Still have 2 cases, one Mobo (only the PCIe x1 slot) and a couple CPU's, RAM, and Drives that will work in it.

though would want the system somewhat capable of playing some older or lower end 3D games.

Interested in that AMD E-350 setup. Its an MSI board with the CPU, though its only 1.6GHz, I wouldn't be surprised if you could OC it to 2GHz or so. Would be fun to have Win7, even if its only 32-bit, 4GB RAM, a decent GPU, and a good 250-500GB Drive space, play some older games on the 32" TV, like Test Drive Unlimited, or some older FPS games like BF2, FEAR, or some of the 2 dozen or so STEAM games I have.

Hell, even sit back and play some RPG's on the couch, like Oblivion, or even Skyrim, and laugh in Console players faces, since they don't have access to the modding community for those games LOL.

Btw Shy, how do you think the fx-8120 will fare in Oblivion? I'm really looking forward to going back and replaying it in "HD"

yeah, I'm not looking at getting one anyways, too much in cost. I was just hoping maybe there was a software suite or open source like package to install on a PC to build your own.

Solo, not sure, it should run pretty good, Oblivion isn't optimized for Dual Cores, so as long as the clock speed and performance for single core is pretty good, should run pretty high settings.

GTX 550 Ti should nearly max the game out as well.

my 470 Maxes the game, I have AA enabled through Nvidia Control Panel and HDR in game (though I always use Bloom, since HDR implementation in game is just sh*t, with its over saturation)

but I actually have everything forced on in Nvidia control panel with my i7 920, and am able to run the game in outdoors with at least 50-75fps minimum, sometimes it might drop down to 40 or so, in intense areas, but indoors, fps shoots to well over 200+.

with out forced on settings in control panel, the 550 should be able to nearly max the game out with playable settings, the biggest issue would be environment loading times spooling data off the hard drive, while on horseback or...

...running naked through the woods, with enchanted rings and amulets, lightening your load, speeding your character up, and casting spells to do the same... all while jacked up on skooma.

    Haha Skooma'ed...

Yea, than I should be fine. After all, I initially played the game fine an old FX-53 single core ok, and that was with an x800pro and x1950pro () and only 2gb of ddr400..

I'm shooting for 4ghz on this 8120 to make sure it has decent single threaded performance. From an average of the reviews I read, (they are varifying like crazy and I think fanboys go both ways on them, some are horrible, some are great for the same games ) it should be roughly equivalent to your stock clocked 920, with the 920 winning some and the 8120 winning others so with a nice OC on it I should be ok i'm hoping...

<-- Going to reinstall morrowind to see how many fps that pulls lol...

Realistically I know the 8120 wasn't really the smartest buy for gaming by a longshot, but I hope for it to last for a good 3 years or so at this point, hoping to pick up a 570-580 in about a year so that should put in a good gaming spot at my res of 1920x1080

Looking at SLI reviews.... thinking about picking up another 550ti in a month or two since I just bought this first one not long ago... no point in my replacing it for $200+ if I can get the same performance by adding another $100 card

I thought you were already getting a Mac thing a month or three ago...?

Didn't you buy it, or is that for another one or an upgrade (already) there..?
I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...

I was going to but i checked macrumors.com and it said that now isnt a good time as they are overdue to release a new version of the hardware.

While the onboard video card is decent, I am hoping that they give it a little push further into performance so i dont get screwed on more modern games that will end up taxing the mobile gpu chipset. yes, they use a mobile gpu chipset on their desktops.

I have been tracking macrumors and arstechnica's apple section for any news of an announcement or something that will hint at when they are going to release the new imacs. Just checked again now and still nothing about updates. I really hope to hear something by the march expected ipad 3 announcement or near then as i am itching to start digging into some mac action.

This of course is also delaying my plans to start learning how to do some coding for iOS which is where i would love to focus my career.

Slight problem.... CPU seems to run ridiculously hot.... starts at 45*....then climbs and within a few minutes hits 55 and keeps climbing.... used AS5... will try reseating it.. yet again.

    Any advice?

No case funs running as it's in test mode, but the case is fully open in the meantime and room tempps are in the 60's

I'd make sure the heatsink was secured evenly on all four corners, but aside from that, no idea why it would be running that hot.

this with the stock AMD Heatsink?
