Skyrim flys just like on the 470.
Little did I know that Steam saves your Game Saves and character data, apparently thats what the Syncing it performs is.
I was able to jump into Skyrim from where I left off last week on the other system, just got done with an hour or so of game play.
had to set up my controls again, and all that, but its running nicely.
Could be a bit better, but its fine for now. caps out at 60fps as well, so Vsync must be enabled as well.
GPU temps were never going over 70C, usually just under that.
Could just barely hear the GPU fan kick in around there. CPU temps seem to be hitting around 60C or so while gaming with Skyrim on Ultra Settings, everything maxed out.
so CPU temps aren't too bad while running games, but its just idle temps that seem to be higher than they should.
Edit: Just ordered the USB 3.0 card, a Xigmatek USB 3.0 HDD Dock, and the Coolermaster 690 II Top panel with USB 3.0 in it.
So at least I have that part on hand once I feel I need some extra 3.0 ports on the front of the case, for now though, the HDD dock will just sit on the arse end of the top of the case, and hold the HDD's.
made sure I got one for both 2.5 and 3.5 inch HDD's. Just in case I need to use it for my 2.5" 80GB SATA drive, or should I come across an older cheap 2.5" SSD drive for whatever.Last edited by ShyguyXPC; June 4th, 2012 at 03:04 AM.

I've seen that before when I was doing some [temping] work for an American bank....stupid thing is that the laptops arrived with Fista/7 on and we had to roll it back to XP as that was the standard....but it still wouldn't load up with AHCI enabled... o.0
Anyway, soon sussed it out and just disabled it (it arrived with it on) as part of my build process - which was basically blowing SysPrepped images back on using ImageX and disabling AHCI....then getting the guy with domain permissions to add computers, to add the computers to the domain...
I just turn it off completely, and once a month simply just go check for updates myself...they're usually done in the second week of the month anyway....I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...Whenever someone says "You can't miss it", I invariably do...

replied while I was editing the post above, got my HDD issues resolved (sort of), just waiting on the parts to get here is all. Hopefully by Thursday or Friday.
yeah, Windows update, I usually have set to notify me, but don't download or install with out me saying so.
Sometimes I have seen it install updates, certain ones, if I leave it sit for too long, even if its set to not install with out my permission.
biggest problem is if I turn it off, I KNOW I will forget to check, I'll be 6 months down the road before I remember to check LOL.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

Anyone else been watching E3's stuff so far? Microsoft's conference was a joke, especially when your big finally is a clip of ANOTHER CALL OF DUTY...THAT WE ALREADY KNEW ABOUT.
EA's looked good and Crysis 3 looks fun. Can't wait for SimCity 5 though, loved the series (minus societies)
Sony's conference is tonight and Nintendo's is tomorrow (which I can't wait for as they have not revealed any info and it's out fairly soon).
Also, kinda stole your signature layout Shy, hope you don't mind too much. I've got to admit, it's by far the most efficient. Copying is the best form of flattery, no?

I didn't watch any of that stuff, but I have been waiting for SimCity 5 as well, since I first saw a trailer/preview clip months ago for it.
ABOUT FRAGGIN TIME!!!!
Forget Sims, Forget Civilization (just about every damn Civ game is the same, with newer interfaces and graphics, but same gameplay... the least they could do is make some newer "Remakes" of Alpha Centauri, which was a true sequel to the game series)
Was reading up on Crysis 3 and looks to be decent enough.
Far Cry 3 is another one, more of a throw back to the original games environment, but they claim to be making Multiplayer more TEAM Oriented, and not the lonewolf crap.
though their implementing elements of BF and COD games into the gameplay, as well as Scoring and what not.
great, turn a wonderful sandbox game into yet another BF/COD clone.
Forget about multi play in that for me. Unless there's a story coop mode.
Would like to hear more on the Wii U, and whether they plan on keeping or changing the Name, I'm all for changing it to something more appropriate.
Nintendo Wii 2? Or more another Variation on that would be the Nintendo Wii Wii...
Seriously, they need to get rid of the dorky names, and give it something more easier to say. Wii U, just doesn't sound right at all, worse than the original Wii was.
So if this is the Wii U, does the Mii's get changed to Mii U's? How about the Wii U Controller, or Wii U Fitness? Or Wii U whatever, etc.
If Only there was a way to shortened and make it easier to say Nintendo Wireless Entertainment System, or WiFi Entertainment System... A throw back to the old NES and SNES... Some how WES doesn't roll off the tongue as easily. (too many syllables in the W)
Or take a Combination of the Wii "U" and NES, and make it UNES, Ultra Nintendo Entertainment System... or for the geeks out ther Uber Nintendo Entertainment System LOL.
Anyways....
on the sig, no problem, which I could get it to stay in one line, as it drops a line down even on this 1080p monitor.
If it wasn't for the F@H Stats box, I would of had mine like yours was.
But I think I copied NLM's or Aaron's Format for Sig as well, so in a way you copied from theirs as well, LOL.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

This site is going crazy and driving me nuts but appears they are aware of it...
Anyways, yea the name WII U is ridiculous.... getting too over the top for me. Didn't see the e3 conference yet since im at work - however from what I'm reading it was meh at best.
Though it seems everyone these days is a hate mongering ps3/360 owner so I don't really take the opinions too seriously since have those people only play CoD and such.

Kinda random here to - but do you guys get a constant itch to upgrade also? It's like I just got the 480 and it plays everything I do at 1080p pretty much maxed and all I'm thinking is when will the 670's / 680's come down in price...
This is an expensive habit...
Also contemplating upgrading my cpu to the piledriver when it comes out since for whatever reason my board or cpu won't overclock worth crap - I like the benefits of 8 cores but really don't want to justify the price to switch to a new mobo w/ comparable features and a i7Main PC: AMD FX-8350 / 16gb DDR3 1600 / AMD 7970GE 1200mhz Core & 1600mhz Mem / Win7 Pro 64bit

yeah, the upgrade itch is addictive, and hard to suppress. I'm always looking at stuff after upgrades, wishing I had more money to upgrade even better.
Hell, last couple days with this new system, wish I had gone for Socket 2011 or at least 1155.. this damn Quad core, though i paid lower than regular price on, it runs just too warm for me.
I noticed it was idling in 50-60 range for the last hour or so, and DAMN, the amount of heat coming out of the case, between the CPU and GPU... the front bays felt like the back of my GTX 470... well, not quite, but close enough, then heat out the top, and a slight bit out the side vent.
I was running my RAM at 1600Mhz as well.
I had to take the side panel off to allow cooler air to flow in it.
since the air comes in through back, and directs out front bays and up top, it was just odd having that much heat coming out.
I was in one of my games, hell I wasn't even IN game yet, just configuring the games controls, and at title screen the GPU runs 70C easily (it actually renders the games terrrain and AI and sh*t in the background at title screen, so technically the game was "running" while just configuring controls.)
I went to shut the game down after setting things up, and POOF, the PC locked up, black screen from game just before desktop shows up.
Before this I had been having issues with Teamspeak 3, configuring my Mic, and audio settings, guys on TS3 were saying I was sounding like I was communicating from a Fish bowl... it cleared up on one persons end, but not the other guys.
I also had some system Lock up issues while uploading images to photobucket, had to do a hard reset of the PC 3 times.
so don't know if it was heat related or not, since the temps were warmer than they should be, but Not hot enough for a system shit, er, Shut down LOL.
I'm starting to wonder if I need to do some new thermal paste on this thing? Stock stuff was Shin Etsu something or other that came on the H60 originally, I have some IC Diamond from 3 years ago still (whether its still good is anyones guess), AS Ceramique 2, and some higher quality Shin Etsu...
Right now looks like CPU temps have dropped about 10C since I rebooted, about 15 min ago.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

I don't know what you guys are talking about...
anyway, I went 2011 to be a real upgrade. I'm doing ok with just 8GB of RAM though, I may get a 16GB kit to replace the 4x2gb ones in the system now.I
if i can edit the post...
ok.. well i am.. getting a GTX680, my only antique is the harddrive really. Even though it works fine, SSD's are in my mind, just that I have been kind of broke from upgrading to the gtx 580/ i7 3930k stillLast edited by Carld; June 5th, 2012 at 07:31 PM.

oh, and I'm done with OGR after the 25 million points mark. the 3930K should do ok on smp10 (so I had 2 cores to use) doing whatever 40k ppd it can do.

gonna be putting in the AC in the window tomorrow I think, so hopefully system temps drop like a rock for the rest of the summer, at least until winter comes along.

found why the game I was playing kept crashing... I use a Launcher tool for it to manage all the mods and addons for it, along with some performance tweak functions, one of which is setting CPU Priority, I had it set for high, set it to normal and the game doesn't crash anymore upon exiting the game.

It's worse for us Mods, as we have to finish waiting for the script that is known to be a bit buggy to finish loading (which is believed to be the cause of the slowness of the site recently) before we can close a thread...or do a few other things that are Mod-type schtuffs......

CPU temps with AC in window, been running for 4 hours now, AC set to 66F, only a portion of the AC blows into the case, but GPU idles at mid 20's (Celsius) now, so it idles a good 10C less than before, but thats because the side vents for GPU are in path of most of the cold air from the AC.
CPU has seen about a 5-10C drop in temps at idle as well. Finally hitting upper 30's and low 40's for idle temps (overall CPU temp, not individual cores, those are sitting at upper 40's, lower 50's, which is still nearly 7-10C lower than usual).
see if I can't devise a way to direct more cool air across to the Radiator intake.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

woke up this morning, and my CPU was idling at 33C...
WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO, finally decent temps. And the GTX 560 Ti was idling at 21-22C. But because I was heading to work, and we had some rain and thunder I powered the system down and unplugged it (posting from the netbook).
USB 3.0 Card and HDD Dock arrived today, will have to install that tomorrow.
but the Xiggy HDD Dock ( Newegg.com - XIGMATEK Secure II USD03 2.5" & 3.5" Black USB 3.0 External Docking Station ) looks and feels like solid quality, has good weight to it, and doesn't feel like a cheap empty plastic shell like some I have seen or used *cough* Thermaltake BlacX *cough*...i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

Glad to heat the temps are more acceptable now! I was curious as to why it was idling so high.... just about as high as my old pentium 4 prescott 2.8e (still in use btw, idles at 50*c lol)

Yeah, haven't had the PC running since Thursday morning, when I shut it off before work since we had T-storms moving through.
The Rig runs MUCH cooler if its got the AC cooling it, but with out it, the ambient room temps weren't doing much good. Its possible it just runs hotter, it is a C0 Stepping i7 as well, not the cooler running D0's.
But even my 920 is a C0 and it runs much cooler at idle, and is only 300MHz slower stock speed.
Yeah, needing to get a newer vehicle myself, even if its an OLD but decent vehicle.
I may get a 2nd Video card and some more RAM before that, but after that its NO MORE spending on the rig unless its absolutely necessary, and save some paychecks for down payment or payment in full on a decent car, parent older Mini Van is slowly getting to the nickle and dime repair stage, and the fuel economy sucks as well.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

Yea, I've come to the conclusion myself that without my AC, the combo of my FX cpu and overclocked gtx480 would light my room on fire within an hour of gaming.
Good luck with the car situation - my "Newest" vehicle is a 1997 corolla which i use to go back and forth to work 40 miles each way - gets about 34mpg thankfully.
Trying to get my 1988 Jeep back on the roads as my weekend warrior. Driving a slow, fwd, mini car really makes me miss my Jeep Comanche, a RWD pickup powered by 4.0L inline 6 that's lighter than a corvette
(unfortunately not faster, but hey it's tons of fun and that's all that matters to me!)
