    [BIOS issue?] Someone please help!!!

Hi,I need help. My computer doesn't display the manufacturer logo when starting up; it goes directly to a black and white screen that says error reading disc. My hardrive is broken. The above mentioned is understandable. What I don’t understand is why the manufacturer logo and all other details that are usually displayed when you switch on your computer aren't displayed. I found a way to get into my bios by restarting my computer and repeatedly pushing the delete key, and presto my bios screen appears. I want to buy a new hardrive; before I do I need to know what’s wrong, and whether or not my problem can be fixed. My finances are limited; therefore I can’t afford to make the wrong move. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!

I've merged your [duplicate] posts into one.

Unfortunately, I managed to lose who said this:

First I wouldn't post in so many threads with the same topic. That is a no,no.

Second I would try pulling the CMOS battery and killing the power to the computer for a minute and see if that doesn't do anything.
Please let us know how you get on following that advice.
I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...

Do this first... as stated, unplug the computer from the wall and remove the battery in you wish. Then there is a reset jumper near the battery, move it to the "reset" terminals for a few seconds and move it back.

Then reboot, and hopefully it will boot ok.

You may have to go back into bios to reset the clock, but usually windows can do that though it's program.
