I think its amusing my XP 1700 gets a 76, while my pii 400 gets an 82.

You're talking overall scores here.. what are the individual scores for the different items? (storage, network, processor, memory etc)

What's dragging down the 1700?

During the time of benching, the CPU could`ve been in use by other app, so the result became that low.. it happens often..

I once got around 20 for my OCed XP1900+ while it should score 148 .. (yes, i was gaming )

I think its the ram the pii has 384 while the XP has only 256.

In any event, I've got machine plugging away at this now, if i had another NIC, it could be 5

Yep, the RAM will surely drag down an overall score.

The CPU is only responsible for a small portion of the overall score; can't recall what offhand.

I've got a couple or 10 NIC's laying around. Not sure about drivers, etc for em, though. I think they're all 10Mbps. 3 of em are in working 386's.

<shrug>

With em so cheap these days... probably better to just buy a new one
