| Why dose my desktop run circles around my laptop?
i think this is crazy. My computer and laptop have been running UD for about the same amount of time (ok fine desktop started 6 hours or so before laptop.) and my desktop is up to 4 results and laptop 1. now i understand my desktop is (was) a beast of a computer, but my laptop isn't that far behid it.
here is some specs.
desktop
1.0Ghz Amd T-bird 266fsb
786MB PC133
(i think thats all i need)
Laptop
700Mhz P3 (mobile)
256MB PC100 (think its PC100)
now i understand the 300Mhz diffrence but i would never have thoguht it to be that far apart. and another odd thing i have problems having my desktop on for 24/7 but my laptop has been on for almsot a week. i think the constant cpu use helps now.
any thoughts or is this a normal thing?... |

its just that amd is better for dc market.. I have a 900 p3 laptop.. that couldn't compare to my old 1.1 tbird..
also u might have a larger WU on the laptop.. then u are getting on your desktop.. but as likely as this can be.. its still simple that intel at that stage had nothing on AMD..

WU is a working unit i belive. He means that you may have a larger working unit running on the laptop taking more time to complete and such. |

Its all in the processor.
AMDs are far superior to Intels when it comes to the DC projects. These programs utilize FPUs [floating point units] in their calculations and the AMDs are optimized when it comes to FPUs.
Thats why an AMD 1.4GHZ will beat out a Intel 1.8 when it comes to FPU computations.
