| [ECCp]: Am I the only one cranking less points these days?
Howdy all,
I have noticed that running the same number of computers, my point count is dropping. When I should be posting a bit under 100 points per 6 hour period, I am down to 65 to 75. Are we just running out of points?

I have not noticed that much of a difference on my side. My points usually vary depending on how the herd is configured.
I guess the best way to check is average the previous weeks and see if there is a trend. |

I haven't noticed anything either. Mines gone down, but that's just from the loss of a couple boxen.
Reinstall the clients and see what you get. |

Don't know, I noticed a drop too during the weekend. Maybe we're heading to end
Nah I think it was a (bad programmed) filesharing program I left running which took some CPU-cycles .
I guess the DPs are generated irregular. But on a daily average it will give you the same outage. I guess its pure coincidence you might have less now, but probably more tomorrow (hopefully). |

I don't think its possible for the ECCp program to KNOW we're nearing an end seeing as it does not download anything. It only cranks out numbers and returns them, it doesn't keep track of DP's already cranked.
Is it possible something's running on your herd that's slowing you down?

Try removing the DPLIST.LOG file. It seems to as it bloats, the program slows down. I think each DP that is "found" is checked against the file, to see if the new DP that is found has been so previously. Just a thought.... |

Quote: Originally posted by Max_Confusion Try removing the DPLIST.LOG file. It seems to as it bloats, the program slows down..... | Whow that thing has grown (3.5Mb since april). That's quite a big textfile .
But it hasn't been changed since my last flush, so why would it interfere with the points made after de flush? |

your DP output is not dependent on either the dplist.log file or the previously generated points.
you're probably just seeing a lower than average stretch of time, that's all. |

Points in ECCp are randomly generated, and some are more difficult to calculate than others. This results in some variation in results from time to time. Are all your computers putting out their normal it/s speed ?? If so, you should be OK. |
