[UD] Are the new work units taking a long Time?
or is it just me.
I used to go through one in less than 6 hours. Now they seem to be taking 16 hours...Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

Chuckiechan,
This isn't really that unusual for work units to take this long.
It was like this about a year ago, when we got a new molecule it would take longer to work on it in the beginning then get better the longer (more times) we worked on it.

Yes they are!
Used to send 4 or 5 a day.
Not now.
Time will tell.
But right now... Not happy... R.

my preliminary numbers that i show have about a 30-40% increase in processing time with the new WUs

I'm up about 50% processing time per WU.

hmmm, i might have spoke too soon.
i checked a couple more boxes and it now takes about twice as long to finish each WU.
what used to take 9 hours, now takes over 20!

What's wrong with a 20 hour work unit? I don't understand..
When we started this a little over a year ago they were longer than 20 hours. That's why the sticky by GilaM about LRM's. We would brag about how long one took to complete and how many hits we got. I don't know why people are unhappy about them. That just means your computer can crunch more without loosing time sending. You should get more points in the long run. Which is

I agree surreal I remember many that took 90+ hrs and had great hits. And many good point makers. I don't have a problem with the WU's they seem jus fine. The points should be the same per the amount of cpu time either way 1-20hr WU or 2-10hr WU's just not as many completes per day

I haven't really noticed them being much longer to be honest and I also prefer them taking longer as it saves hassle with fetching more work more often. I have 2 really slow boxes , a P200mmx and a P2 350 and they are having no problems so far in completing a wu before a time out

November 25th, 2002, 05:56 PM #11This is true, the old WU's completed between 6-8 hours on my main workstation with an XP1900+, the current WU is at 8 hours now and is 76% completed. The amount of points you get isn't determined by how many WU's you complete, but a combination of CPU time, and your overall computer rating. The only thing i'm worried about is my P200/mmx that would normally finish a WU in just under 100 hours, although I still don't think it would be a problem with a 250hour timeout limit, at the rate its going, it should still be able to finish before then.Originally posted by surreal

My last WU took about 15 hrs to process. I just took a look at the current one and after 5 hrs, it's 80% finished. Did it just get faster?

Jerry,
They seem to be a mixed bag - I've had some take 20+ hrs - and then some take 8 or less. But for the most part they're longer.
The one I'm running on this machine right now (900 tbird) is at 29% at 6hrs.

Looks like UD reduced the number of ligands from 40 to 35. My 1900+ has been working on its WU for 45 minutes and is 16% completed.

mine was at 39% after 5 hours.. that was yesterday. now it's at 40% and 26 hours... I just can't get them to play nice with ecc2.
Needless to say I turned ecc2 off."Sometimes life is just what we make it."

Have been getting some smaller ones again lately.

The changes made to LF2 means that it u/loads results in a fraction of the time it used to take.
A good thing, on a dial up.
Hang in there Folks!
