Squeech, you can run ecc2 right now under Linux using wine - it works really well, samwichse says 10-20kIt/s faster than the windows client on the same machine - http://www.techimo.com/forum/showthr...706#post449706
I haven't been as lucky getting it to upload (I haven't got network access working under wine) but n/m, I can use the manual upload or just wait till the Linux client comes out and start with my existing plist files! |

I tried the new client with UD on my 1900+ and ECC2 used up all the CPU time... After reading surreal's post though I started playing around with the processing priority and thread priority. So far the best results have been by setting the processing priority to 40 and thread priority to -2. This gave me a 75/25 split in favor ot ECC2. Still not the 50/50 split i'm ultimatly looking for, i'd even be content with a 60/40 split. So if anyone finds a way for a more even split, please share the wealth. I want to do what I can to help the team maintain 1st place, but don't want to to affect my running UD too much.

The great advantage is that ECC2 can run for days without permanent internet connection. You only have to upload the points once in awhile.
Basically al you need is a floppy to carry the points to an internetmachine and load them. |

Another feature: ability to manual upload points from non-internet PCs (linux&windows).
Check this link: http://www.ecc2.com/upload.php
Most DC projects require permanent internet connection. ECC2 on the other hand runs basically for ages without any!!
So it makes it perfect for DIAL-UP users and to run it on those second (or more) PCs that are not connected to a network or to the internet.
The upload feature makes it easier to upload your points than I described in my previous post. |

If you are looking at the ECC2 stats page that may be the only problem. The stats pages have not been updating lately. I think they are focused on getting the improved stat server up. |

stats are in beta, they're suppose to get a server running soon, but since these are doing it in their free time, it's taking a while. |
