Just so you know Mick, ECC2 takes less than 1MB of RAM.

There will be two processes running, the CLI and the xcore. CLI takes about 400K and xcore takes about 350K.

That low memory excuse ain't gonna work. I run it on K6-2/500's w/ 64MB each. They crunch like mofo's!

ECC2 RULEZ!

Unfortunately ecc2 is too much for my slow, low RAM cows. So I can't run it, So I run the "other" thing. Check the link, those who have slow cows.

Uhhh, It's sounds like you're describing D2OL and NOT ECC2 Mick.

1. Download the Client. http://ecompute.org/ecc2/clients.html
It runs in a dos window. You can run it as a service in nt/2k/xp to get rid of the window. More info at http://ecompute.org/ecc2/cli-client.html

2. Unzip the file you just downloaded. Move the folder to where you would like to keep ECC2 on your hard drive.

3. Add your email to the ECC2-109.cfg file. Change "// email=admin@eCompute.org" to your email and remove "//".

4. Make a shortcut to the CLIclient.exe on your desktop.

5. Now double-click CLIclient.exe (or the shortcut you made) to start. The client automatically uploads any DPs it finds.

6. Press Ctrl-C to stop the client before rebooting the OS or shutting down.

7. Post here in the Distributed Computing forum with ANY questions you have (Start your thread title with "[ECC2]").

You can also run it on a pc without an internet connection, instructions: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/timodc/ECC2/help.htm
