| Help with UD (How do I know if...)
I just set up UD on two computers today. I will probably set up a few more soon. After setting up the first one, I went through the process of joining the TechIMO team. However, being the first time I have ever done it, there were a few things that I had questions about, as I may have done something wrong:
1. How do I know if both of my cows are crunching for Team TechIMO?
2. How do I know if I successfully joined Team TechIMO?
3. I don't have an internet connection at home (my cows are at work WITH PERMISSION). Can I set up UD on my home computer and transfer the crunched data to a Zip disk to dump at work?
4. Can someone post links to some helpful information (websites and/or threads)?
I can also put the UD agent on my laptop (which is my main computer, but I carry it between home and work). It would only be crunching part-time, but every little bit helps, right?
Looking forward to becoming an active part of the DC community.

I do still need to know if I can "sneakernet" a UD client. I can add a K62-500 to the roster if this is possible. I would need to be able to download WU's to transfer to the client and then transfer the completed WU back to my laptop for dumping. Is this possible? |

hey cool deal someone rememebred my little graphic =)
The only thing u would ahve to reverse it for yourself str8jakit.. I made it to show how you could use a home computer to download the files needed.. using UD Mon.. then take those files to the work computer.. and run them there.. for you.. u will hav to think of the home computer as the work computer.. that u would install Ud Mon on.. in a seperate folder then u have UD currently installed in.. then you would have to set up each of the cache slots.. in your case.. 3 should be enough.. follow the directions from Ud Mon site. the link is listed in one of the UD threads above.. after the WU are downloaded.. for the first time.. u want to be able to copy the whole UD Mon folder.. which will have the cache folders under it.. then take those home.. u may need a few floppies.. and a copy of win ace or win rar to break the files up into compressed files.. then take them home and put them back together.. then drop the ud mon folder.. on your system in the same place that it was at at work... then all you will need to take with u in the work in the morning is the finished WU files.. which u will copy over the top of the WU files.. under each Ud mon folder..
this is a brief example.. if u have problems let me know.. I'll see about helping you as much as I can.. with a clearer discription.. Again.. hope it can figure it out.. it might be simpler though for u to install another instance of UD agent on a work computer.. run it.. to get the WU.. then take the files home.. the older computer might take a day to crunch the WU and u might not have need to use UD Mon..

Nah, I don' need no stinkin' floppies. My main computer is a laptop that I use both at home and at work. Transferring the files is not a problem, I just needed to know if it could be done and how. I cranked it up last night and it is now happily crunching away. Thanks again, Daft for your hard work on producing that graphic. |
