UD - Joined the team Saturday and have a question
I followed everyone over here to TechIMO and thought it was time to get involved with helping the UD team. I don't post very often in the forums but I watch what's happening here every day. Right now I have 4 machines running the UD client. My T-bird 800, Athlon Classic 500@700, K62-400, and an my print server which is an old Pentium 200. Not an incredible amout of power, but it should help.
I had also installed the client on my wife's laptop, but I decided to remove it because it isn't running very much of the time. Is there a way to remove it from my device manager at the UD website?
Thanks,
Marc

Good question.. and AFAIK there isnt' a way.. but it isn't effecting anything... personaly I would like to have more control over my device list as well.. the abilty to combine devices.. the reason being.. if u have to reinstall UD in the future.. even if you give the same device name.. to the letter.. it will still create a new Device..
This is a question to ask Gila.. maybe Gila has seen something on the UD message board about them doing something about this in the future..
Sorry I couldn't help more

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The statistics replication scripts that copy/calculate from the main UD database to the database reserved for members.ud.com web traffic are now running regularly every 4 hours with no issues.
I now have a complete result by result verification check at the end of each cycle to ensure that the script is performing correctly. (It will notify me and/or other UD staff instantly if it does not complete a cycle correctly).
In addition, as mentioned in previous notices about statistics work, I am about 50% done on reloading/recalculating specific days between 10/22 and 11/22. This work is being done to correct about 25-50 per result statistics per day on average (out of an average of 350,000 total results per day...or around .00015%).
In order to ensure 100% accuracy of all historical calculations in the database reserved for the members.ud.com web traffic, once the reload/recalculate for specific days since 10/22 are done (correcting a few results per day), the teams calculations for those days will also need to be adjusted. This will require me to actually delete the existing team statistics for a given day and then recalculate them from the member statistics for that day, using the historical team association data. (Yes, we keep a complete individual record of every member's team association for every single day - just for events like this.) During the 15-20 minutes at a time when I have to delete the team data for a day, the statistics display will be incorrect overall, obviously. I am choosing to do it this way (correcting one day at a time) rather than taking the entire database down for hours at a time, so as to not disrupt access to the rest of the members statistics and pages. I will give a "all done/all clear" message signal when I have completed the teams rework as well. Until then, please expect and understand teams stats to be "off" now and then (for the next couple of days).
----------------------
Sort of related side note: For those wondering why UD has not allowed/implemented the "delete inactive/dormant device(s)" function, despite the many requests (and instead just implemented inactive/dormant device filtering)...see above...referring to our also keeping an exact day by day record of every member and team association. Without it, I would not be able to reconstruct the team stats. As stated many times, if/when we start offering device deletion or merge capabilities, in our current system design, we lose the ability to reconstruct a complete audit trail of device or member activity. Obviously, we may have the time, money, and/or resources in the future to redesign the system to handle device merging capabilities while still maintaining a historical audit trail, but that day has not come yet. The inactive/dormant device filtering is the best we can offer until then.

That was quick.
Thanks for the quick responses to the question. Looks like I learned something today. Now I can turn my brain back to dormant mode again...hehe...

Welcome to the team , Marco! You've got a good starter herd of cows there!
I have a P133 running 24/7 so the P200 will do just fine.

While it serves the purpose to fund government, it's also a way for politicians to engineer the economy. As you said, do away with tax breaks and make sure the playing field is level for all...
