I'm just wondering why I never get any of those methodology jobs.
All I get is the tough ones and sit and watch everyone else passing me by!

That's ok Harder, just look at the job/hit ratio. You'll see who's doing the most amount of "work"!

July 29th, 2003, 12:16 AM #9in a manner of speaking...yes, if we're talking about types of WU's being crunched. esp. the method 1c1y-q1's...very low hit ratios but would finish extremely fadst. and yes, i've crunched quite a few of these too...brought down my hit ratios from >30 to 25 now.Originally posted by Omardeth
so i guess that if you get jobs that don't get alot of hits it means you aren't working as hard ?
a pretty good metric for contribution is the Points system as devised by the FAD creators...something which i am beginning to agree with more & more, btw.
keep crunching, everyone!

look at the hit/job ratio.
I know this probably isn't a dig at me, but then I don't know maybe it is.
I have spent a lot of time, money (I shudder to think) and effort setting up my home networked FAD crunching machine, and as I pay the electric, it's nice now and again to let the reigns go and see what it can do.
I have had a hit/job ratio of less than 20 since before I was even in the top 20. If I wanted to get it up to 30, I would need to spend the next 2 years doing nothing but sars/cancer with hit counts of over 50 to catch up.
To say that I am not working as hard is a completely unfair statement. All my machines crunch 24/7, they never get a let up.
Try telling my 2.5 barton that it isn't working as hard when it has been running at 50 degrees c for god knows how long and just completed its 6th wu for the day with a queue of 7 1e7u's and 21 1aq1-q1's (which I didn't ask for BTW) to go before lunch.

to add to win2kuser's post, i think the longer someone runs fad, in all likelihood, chances are that your hit count ratios will probably drop somewhat. after all, not every mollie that you crunch is gonna generate 50+ hits.
i would say that if you've completed more than 1000 jobs and have a hit count ratio over 30, that is definitely above average...

Fair comment PJ.
I remember mine being in the mid forties earlier in the year.
Now at 37 [34736 hits/ 936 jobs]
But then as an early convert to FaD [was #5 in the team once
]
I think [no pun] it's also fair to say we used to get a lot more hits, early on.
We also agree on the points metric.
It's is only a matter of time, for it to be more accepted.
R.

Are these really "micro-pigs"? I don't doubt anything these days. But, full grown hogs around here are 500 pounds. Lot's O Bacon! I buy only thick sliced because I love bacon. I cut fresh lettuce out...
