Setting up a remote node with internet connectivity

Greetings,
The first of the apparently acceptable 'dumb questions' from me.

If I want to run FAD on friends'/familys'/work's PCs, do I just install with my username and email address and the points go to me (and us) automatically-like?

Cheers,
Whaleboy.

yep, it's as easy as that.

just make sure you type your user name and email addy EXACTLY as you have it registered before. i read somewhere(?) that it is case-sensitive and i see plenty of 'double' registered members on the FAD lists...

Saluton!
After spending ages setting up a sneaker net for FAD it is music to my ears.
Ta PJ (if I can call you that).

you most certainly can.

'though PJ are not my initials in real life...so it took a little getting used to when people first started using it on the boards. kept thinking about pajamas everytime i read PJ in a post. LOL

btw, you actually got sneakernet to work?!...Dang! i tried it a few weeks ago and after two weejends of wasted time, i gave up!

I had to trick it into working at several points - even at the very end it gave an error and quit when I imported but then when I restarted the client and server it started crunching.
It would help if there was a simple 'How-to' on it. I can certainly entertain you with my exploits if you're interested.

well. if you want to take the time to type a 'how-to'...yeah, i'm interested. but i need a step by step account.

i read a lot of threads on the find-a-drug board to try figure out how and wasn't able to get it working right. they left stuff out and when i asked about it, i'd get a "oh, right...well you also need to do this and that also"!

just got too frustrating and after wasting most of two weekends trying, i gave up.

according to keith (the head honcho)...sneakernet support will be much better in release 1.23 or 1.24 (don't rememeber the exact version).

Thanks for that.
I won't go into my experience just yet, as I haven't tried to reimport the jobs yet ... we'll wait and see if the whole thing was successful...
Regards,
Whaleboy.
