I recently bought a new Nvidia GTX 260 video card. When I turn on the computer, it shows nothing on the monitor (monitor stays on stand by mode) then turns off by itself, then turns on again (this repeats). I saw on other sites that maybe you needed to update your motherboard's BIOS or the PSU might be the problem. Well anyway I updated my motherboard, and still the problem was there. If I put in my old 9800 GT, it works fine. But when I put the GTX 260, the problem was still occuring. The 2 fans of the GTX 260 were working. The other thing is that I have a generic 500w PSU. So anyone know what my problem is?

I want to play games like command and conquer tib. wars at an enjoyable level. My current system is as bought except i've upped the ram to 2g. It has a 300 watt power supply, celron 420@1.6ghz(775 socket) and integrated graphics. My motherboard is foxconn 945gz7mc-s2h and has 2 pci slots and 1 pci express x1 slots. Im guessing that the pci express x1 slot is no good for gaming graphics so will need a pci card. Im thinking of installing a HP Intel Pentium 4 processor 520 2.8GHz and GeForce 8400GS 512MB DDR2 HDMI/DVI graphics card that requires 400 watt supply. So please help I need to know if upgrading this way is compatable with my system and if it will result in an enjoyable gaming experience. Finally will I need to upgrade the psu.

For the first 3 times I turn it on, the busy light on the CD drive blinks for about five seconds, then stops for a second, then starts blinking for another five seconds. The fourth time I turn it on, the light only blinks for five seconds then stops, then it loads normally. When I'm doing the three required restarts, if I try to restart the computer before it gets to that break in the blinking, it doesn't register it as one of the three restarts, and I'll have to restart it that many more times.

On - blinks for 5 sec, stops for 1, blinks for 5 more, blank screen

I recently tried to fix it by flashing the BIOS, upgrading it to the latest version, but it didn't change anything. I also reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled Win XP and the latest drivers for my motherboard and video card, but that didn't help either. I've been dealing with this for about a year, just doing the restarts till it loads, but I was hoping someone here could help me fix this issue.

The only option I have is to adjust my resolution, changing from 800x600 to1024x768..but I'm so used to working on 800x600 resolution and dont really feel comfortable with smaller desktop icons and font size.

As I want to stay on 800x600 without having to scroll, I was wondering if exchanging for a 19inch would help?
