i know its an old article but its interesting the stuff that the cell is used for and backwards compatability

I agree with him on the backwards compatability part, Xbox 360 killed Xbox and Xbox 360 hasn't even been doing well enough to justify the move.

Sony REALLY need backwards compatability because of God Of War 2!

Check that out if you haven't seen it(oh and kick yourself for not having seen it).. all I've heard thus far is its due for 2007 and it's going to kick backside.
