For Playstation 6, Xbox 102555445 and Nintendo Re-Revolution..

Hey! High definition is confusing enough. People are just now getting used to 720p/1080i and 1080p, so here comes NHK again with their UHDV. Ultra High Definition TV has a resolution of a measly 7,680 x 4,320 which works out to be 16 times the current 1920 x 1080 standard we have today. This is nothing new though guys. (and gals) They have been showing this off around the world for a couple of years now starting at NAB back in 2004. It is still pretty cool though and when you combine that uber-high resolution with 22.2 channels of audio...WOW. Simply wow. Don't except Circuit City or Best Buy to carry this anytime within the decade though. Or even within the next decade, as they are aiming for a 2025 launch. So if you save a dollar a day till the launch in 19 years, you will have just under $7000 to be the first kid on the block with UHDV!

You would need a huge tv to display all those pixels...60" is a big enough screen IMO...why would anyone want a bigger one? The bigger it is, the further back you have to be...and the further back you are, the smaller it seems...so there is really no point to have super high resolutions. If they would just get 1080p(60) out, that would be plenty for a very long time.

    I would,
I Think it would be Freak'n Sweet to see a game on in a 80" or 100" screen at that clarity.

The human eye can tell a difference, when the public demo of UHDTV was shown in Japan the picture was so realistic the viewers got motion sickness.

They basically took a modified camera and filmed themselves travelling down the street and the picture was so realistic the human brain got confused as to why it was seeing movement but the body wasn't moving.

They'll have to sort it out but the human eye is VERY VERY complex they haven't even come close to maxing out your viewing potential through monitors.

Here's the article about the UHDTV demo: AVS Forum

They just need to tinker with motion blur and up contrast ratio and they've got a flabbergasting display.

32 million pixels could faciliate 300 inch displays (OLED should provide us with displays that big) and the screensize to viewing distance ratio decreases with more pixels too.

For example with SDTV it's 3-4" to 1 foot so if you sit ten feet from the screen your TV should be 30 to 40 inchs.

With HDTV it's 7-8" to 1 foot so at the same ten foot difference you could easily pull off 70 to 80 inch comfortably.

With UHDTV it could be a lot more than that, I can't wait to play MGS17 on a 300 inch TV with 22.1 surround sound.

I suspect we will see this technology much sooner than most of us assume.
