Halo 3 gets "A-Hole Button"
Hah! I like this feature. The long awaited Halo 3 will offer the option of shutting up annoying teenagers who won't stop with the trash-talk.
Frank O'Connor from Bungie elaborates in the studio's weekly update on its website:
'The "A-Hole Button" in Halo 3 lets you exact instant, silent vengeance… you simply press a button (back button, for the moment anyway) and up comes the score list with everyone's tag on it. The right stick lets you highlight the miscreant and you can then instantly mute them for the rest of the game.'
O'Conner doesn't seem too impressed with some of the trash-talkers on Xbox Live. He adds:
'…we can't be parents to some of these poltroons. We're much more concerned with giving you guys the tools you need to silence them.'
Thanks Bungie!
Also included in the updated are some words from the enthused Jen Taylor, the voice behind Cortana:
"There's a lot more drama and a lot less technical jargon this time around. I actually just finished a couple of lines that nearly had me in tears. For an actor, more drama is always good."You people are you satisfied with this kind of world? I'm not.

All games with voice should have this option. The old CS when it added voice allowed you to mute people. Since source the option is gone

Yeah little kids screaming get quite annoying.

Awesome!
That was another reason I didn't play Halo 2 much, all the little kiddies were trash talking like it was going out of style and it wasn't very easy to mute them.
...I just can not wait to try the Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta."The problem with quotations on the internet is that the sources are hard to verify" - Abraham Lincoln

It's about time they threw that in!
Like Ex, one of my reason's I didn't enjoy/play Halo 2 online often was the seemingly endless amounts of children that think their the best and so cool. Trash talking is understatement for that game....
Not only that, but doesn't a 11 year olds' whiny voice get on your nerves? I know it did for me.Last edited by SoloCamo; February 12th, 2007 at 03:35 PM.

Hehe, you should buy one!

There are 3 ways you can get into the Beta. One of them was by entering your name in a contest where they pick people randomly to join(they picked the people for that already). Another was to buy Crackdown(I am going to buy it, it is actually a lot more fun than I would have imagined. I downloaded the demo for it off XBL and it is a lot of fun). And the other way was to be one of the first thousand or so(I dont remember exactly) to play Halo 2 multiplayer for 3 hours starting on a certain day(dont remember what day that was).
More on bungies site(check for the "Rule of 3")."The problem with quotations on the internet is that the sources are hard to verify" - Abraham Lincoln

they have mute in halo 2 but in the game it takes too long to go through the menu, I'd guess it takes 20 sec plus to do it. however, when you mute someone it's not for that game, it's until you unmute that tag.

I haven't played in a while, but i remember pushing tab to get a list of players. Clicking on the name to mute them. I cant do that anymore, unless they changed it. I haven't figured it out.

You'll have to forgive me. I'm using the undocumented feature of TechIMO to mute all you guys. All I see right now, is a blank thread.
What are you guys talking about?
Just kidding. This is a cool feature! I had no idea it existed in any game. - Then again, about my only experience with online chatting while playing games is Roger Wilco in counter-strike - and you would always have to make a "Private" room, to keep the guys that would scream and that kinda' crap out. Putting it "inside" the game, is just pure genious.
Score 1 for Bungie. (Valve too, since GZ3 reported that it was in the old CS)
And thus it was spoken by the mighty Uss. And it was so.

The mute player option is still in source, its just not as conveniant to get to anymore. If I remember right, you hit escape to get to the menu screen then click on the players link and you can mute them from there.
