| Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360) Reviews Quote:
The Grand Theft Auto series has been a major source of debate for a long time. Its controversial themes are frequently targeted by those who advocate anti-gaming politics. Even so, GTA continues to thrive as a franchise and now Rockstar has finally completed the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto IV. For the past several days, we've been playing the Xbox 360 version of the game and have only just gathered our thoughts on Rockstar North's latest open world action adventure.

I'm not taking too much of a risk when I say that Grand Theft Auto is the best game you'll play in 2008. GTA is a joyous celebration of excess, success, madness and Newtonian physics that will leave you wanting to tell your friends stories about what happened to you today in Liberty City in excited tones.
But you won't need to. Your friends will have been there when you jumped off a 100 metre bridge into the sea after bowling and getting very drunk. They will be there when you play chicken with buses. They were there with you in the pick-up when you made the three cop cars explode. They were there when you crashed the chopper into the facsimile of the Chrysler Building.
So much fun one little shiny disk. Hard to comprehend isn't it?

Admit it. Last September when all the talk was of Halo 3, sales records, and gaming finally hitting the big time, the actual big time, you thought your hobby had reached its zenith and would struggle to ever regain the same 'real world' impact, the same acceptability, the same clout. You were wrong. Master Chief may have a certain something, but when it comes to titillating the masses, en masse, there really is only one game that has it all. The launch of Grand Theft Auto IV isn't so much like celebrating the arrival of a major new videogame, as it is like welcoming an old friend into your home, probably your best friend, and realising that those other loafers you've been hanging-out with lately just aren't as quick, aren't as witty, and just aren't as outright entertaining.

The game is a bit buggy, a lot of people (ps3, and 360) are having problems with the game hanging.
So far I've played it for one day with no problems.
Rockstars stance thus far has been to uninstall and reinstall the game (ps3 version) and remove your network connectivity

I walked into my best buy, asked the manager if they had any special editions and was walked to the door to the dock. I was handed a nifty new Xbox 360 Special Edition that was just unloaded that morning. Sometimes its good to have an inside edge.
Ive played for something like 5 hours yesterday and almost tempted to skip school today to play. |

Its different for most people but some either have problems with the game freezing while playing, or when they quit the game, re start it to play again it hangs on the loading screen. (I freeze every time on the loading screen). to get around the loading freeze, I just delete the "Profile" file - not the saved game file and re load the game. Fixes it right away and I retain my position in the game. |

This is the first GTA game I've bought, but I played some other one a long time ago.
Even if you play it strictly as a driving game it is quite fun. I just wish they would unlock more of the city and let you go wherever you want from the start.
I don't really care about finishing the game, I just like messing with the AI and see what kinds of stupid things they do.
One time it seemed to freeze while reloading a mission for me, but I just restarted my 360 and it worked again. The only problem I've really had is that while driving, if you drive like a "normal" person would, the AI does not like sitting behind you when you are at a red light and tries to drive around you or runs into you.
