Just before the end of 2006, Xbox 360 owners were able to get their first taste of the fast paced, firepower laden, vehicle driving top down shooter, Assault Heroes. Developed by Wanako Studios and published by Sierra Online, the game eventually found its way into the hearts of old school fans everywhere. Assault Heroes' gameplay immediately brought to mind such classic arcade hits as Commando and Smash TV. The game's plot, for what it was worth, put players in the role of the only surviving members of an elite military group fighting their way to a secret underground lab, which housed a cybernetic weapon bent on world domination. Now, nearly a year and a half after the original, Assault Heroes 2 picked up the action right where the first game left off.

Now Assault Heroes 2 is staring the Xbox Live community dead in the face with more of the same top-down assault (surprise, surprise) action that we remember from the first game. Now the only question is whether the second installment can push the tried-and-true formula far enough to offer something new and exciting while still keeping that same Assault Heroes style and feel.
