| Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3) Reviews Quote:
With the release of Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4, the moment millions of fans have been waiting for is finally here. As the final chapter in the Solid Snake saga, the game was supposed to bring closure (and, perhaps more importantly, answers) to the series that was introduced over 20 years ago on the NES. It appears that Kojima and friends have succeeded in nearly every way, crafting a title that not only answers all of our questions, but make us care about Snake more than we ever thought we could. While it's not without its issues, Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best game on the PlayStation 3, as well as one of the finest titles we'll see this year.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the most technically stunning video game ever made. It's also a fine example of storytelling prowess within its medium, combining gameplay and narrative so slickly and beautifully that it's impossible to extricate one from the other. It's likely you will emerge awestruck from your first play-through, wishing the experience would continue yet nonetheless satisfied with its conclusion. It's difficult not to sound hyperbolic when discussing MGS4 because every part of its design seemingly fulfills its vision, without compromise. There is no halfway.

it is a very cool game
I haven't made it out of the first territory yet, but I've played for a few hours.
some bash it because of the number of long videos, but IMO its all about telling the story so I dont think its overdone |

Batten down the hatches, long-time Metal Gear fan James has some rather controversial thoughts on Hideo Kojima's rambling epic - Metal Gear Solid 4.

Instead, this review is for everyone else. It's partly for those who, like me, dabbled in the previous games. It's mostly for those who might have had their interest piqued by the marketing or who fell for the "tactical espionage action" tagline on the box (only one of the three is true, and only occasionally). For you, I cannot stress enough that this is a terrible, terrible game.

I just beat it this morning, like 20 hours of total game play spent, although I did hardest level first time through. I gotta say, the ending video sequences are AMAZING. Not as sad as snake eater's ending, but still enough to make you want to cry. MGS1 was the first game I ever got on my ps1 and the first game I ever beat all the way through. Addicted to death to the game. Sad Hideo Kojima said this is the last one he would be involved with. BRILLIANT |

I want a PS3 so I can play this, but I've heard they are coming out with a new SKU and I'm not sure. |
