how ever it turns out, just pray it doesn't end up like Galaxies, going from the online RPG like play to FPS play... via the updates.

if it's anything like KOTOR, it'll be worth playing.
Good job, friend-of-friends!

Not completely.
It really depends on how they implement it.
I always thought even WoW would be a little cooler if they implemented some sort of "tag along" NPC like they did with Diablo II. - Where you "hire" a NPC to follow you. It could off-set whatever character class your are, such as having a mage along if you're a warrior - etc.
And of course - make it so that the tag along character couldn't come with you if you went in an instance - or something similar. - But definately during the "solo-grind" portions of the game, I think it would definately make it somewhat more enjoyable.
Of course, balancing something like that would take some definate programming foresite - like if everyone grabbed a "tag-along" healer or something - prolly wouldn't be too much fun for PVP.
Just something to think about. And thus it was spoken by the mighty Uss. And it was so.

ehh, but for me the entire point of playing an MMO is the fact that you play with other real people. The sense of community is what makes MMOs fun, for me at least.
Good job, friend-of-friends!

Agreed on the playing with real people statement, is the entire basis of any MMO.
Characters that follow you around (NPCs) definately wouldn't be the easiest thing to implement, but I really do think it could be a great feature if done right.
And in going back to Diablo II. I really think it was successful there. It wasn't anything more than an ~option~ to have any NPC follow you, as you absolutely didn't need them for any part of the game. But it was something cool, when/if you wanted to do it.And thus it was spoken by the mighty Uss. And it was so.

You still play with real people. it is an MMO, but your character will have a story that relates to the NPCs that "tag" along with him/her. Your actions determine how they react to you, and they can even betray you. how cool would that be to have one of your buddy NPCs decide he didn't like how you always force chocked the Ewoks so he draws a blaster on your ass!

I went through and rewatched the six ingame footage videos of combat ... Now im still trying to par down my desktop so it doesnt crash the hell out of KOTOR but overall ... Im impressed so far. I want to see how they manage the rest of these "in development" classes and how much they appeal to me.

I was a huge fan of both KOTOR games and am extremely eager to get my hands on this.
I want to find something to play instead of WoW, which has gotten far too easy since TBC came out . Too bad Age of Conan had terrible tech issues and WH40K is fizzling out.
I pray SW:OR lives up to the hype, and with Bioware on it I think it probably will.

Age of Conan had issues because they never bothered to balance anything outside of Tortage. They failed to expect people to rush to the end game content. Once you left Tortage, you saw and had no way to deny that the game was not finished. It seriously lacked. Not to mention things like stats, items, and some abilities being completely broken or not even implemented in the game.
As for WH40K, i was not aware there was an MMO for this as War Hammer Online is based on WH Fantasy. No Space Marines in WHO that i know of.

Production IG is doing a new Ghost in the Shell series starting in June. It's a four episode OVA of the origin story of Section 9, and it's got all new voice actors. It's going to be strange hearing...
